This thesis examines the Apostle Paul's Christ-centered ministry practice when handling controversies and conflicts within the Corinthian church in Second Corinthians as a useful biblical leadership paradigm for recovery ministry in a wounded congregation. Included in this thesis is a summary of recent research on the common challenges and experiences of pastors who minister in wounded congregations and a series of interviews with select people who have experience and/or expertise in various facets of ministry to wounded congregations. Insights from these interviews are incorporated into a recommended plan for organizing a recovery team to assist the recovery leader's implementation of a ministry plan in the wounded congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131412013776896,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:47:04.945Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:52:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:41:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"82a5a8f5-4829-4683-ae88-2a4bb530b590","accessControl_ssim":["8ee6c556-1baa-48da-bb3c-00a7e3010d70"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["How the congregation of Union Grove A.M.E. The research conclusions reflect various core values, key principles, and training methodologies and strategies as they are realized in the philosophy of the program design, the characteristics of the student population, the cultural context, the training needs of the target audience, the personalities and philosophies of the main leadership core staff, and other factors of the specific training institution. The final recommendations to educators in Majority World ministry training programs are: (1) develop a strong indigenous infrastructure before launching the program, (2) avoid dependence on foreign funding and expatriate faculty, and (3) develop a healthy training model that plans for measured growth. The author's field research includes a leadership survey and a related case study for peer discussion groups on a focus group of twenty-five Black Christian female respondents who are leaders or emerging leaders. Readers will acquire a working definition of coaching, a review of its biblical support, and be introduced to the contribution it can make to the church and its missional assignment."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["910240dd-6bfb-49cb-ab06-1b8de036aac8"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132906257645568,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:10:49.967Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:52:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:44:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6fd111ee-e255-44a2-979e-b7ddbdc80e30","accessControl_ssim":["1a54bde3-3e87-40e3-a348-f60e261c81e1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Leadership for beginning a homeless ministry in a small Southern town"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:52:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:24:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1c5667b9-332b-46fb-9ba0-fab9102fe38c"],"hasLease_ssim":["e3b66b93-a217-4899-999f-c93312e87c30"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John W Fowler"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with people experiencing homelessness"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study explored the relationship between spirituality and leadership in faith-based homeless shelters in rural communities. The author conducted this project at Walden Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolina. Walden is a minimum security correctional institution. In undertaking this study the author seeks to understand the impact, effect and affect that recidivism makes in the lives of men who frequently go in-and-out of corrections. Also, he seeks to understand the impact, effect and affect that recidivism has on the inmates' family and community. This project proposes that a man who frequently goes in-and-out of corrections has experienced acute dysfunction and or woundedness through poor parental relationships, poor or no formal education, and poor or no relationship with God. The author uses an action research methodology whereby he is able to invite the inmates to share their autobiographical stories, reframe them with a view toward dramatically altering their lifestyles. It is the hope of the author that the inmates will have genuine and authentic learning experiences which will transform their lives, renew their minds and empower them by faith to get out of corrections and stay out. The project goals are to reduce the rate of recidivism by helping the recidivists realize transformation, restoration, renewal and reconciliation with God, self and others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131185369317376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:43:28.801Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13083,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":46,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":9,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
