This study highlights the most often faced biblical and cultural issues in Chinese churches. The author interviewed 13 of the largest Chinese churches in the San Francisco Bay area to discover their candidating process.  As a result, key principles and a ministry model were developed to clarify these issues. It is a study of ten Brethren churches in Singapore. Using the case study method, the study considers the process undertaken by the churches in identifying potential leaders, encouraging and preparing them for leadership, and appointing them to assume full leadership responsibilities in the local churches as elders, thus ensuring leadership continuity. The analysis of the research was synthesized into twelve significant observations. It focuses on COGIC pks who share thier stories. Findings reveal that home life is foremost in relation to impact on identity formation. Three pk types were established, in response to growing up under the authority of a preacher/parent. Recommendations were made to increase positive impacts and reduce negative impacts on identity formation. The project showed what happens when the total congregation becomes involved in witnessing for Christ. Long-term residents with rural culture and values are being invaded by newcomers from urban and suburban areas with differing culture and values. This change of city dwellers in the country is brinigng about change because of a clash of lifestyle and values. The strong emotions hinder the ability of the established traditional church in reaching these newcomers. This dissertation is designed to help church leaders of the established traditional church in the post-rural environment lead effective transformation. This research thesis examines both biblical and Confucian teachings on four key concepts, 'human dignity,' 'suffering,' 'suicide,' and 'life after death,' pertaining to end-of-life issues. The focus of application is on patient autonomy, physician-assisted suicide, and decisions on withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment. The goal is to provide a biblical foundation to a pro-life position and to gain insight on what one needs to be aware of when making end-of-life decisions in a Chinese-Confucian context.
