The goals of this project were (1) to research the field of premarital counseling, (2) to develop a workshop to train selected married couples in premarital counseling skills, and (3) to equip a selected group of members to participate in a premarital counseling ministry.  The teaching methods used during the training sessions were lecture, group discussions, questionnaires, participant interaction, and general evaluations. The purpose of the project was to equip lay leaders, in order to fashion, field, and lead an adult leadership team. Goals included: (1) enhancing church leadership and ministries; (2) improving the image of the church in the community; (3) replicating leaders throughout the body; (4) repairing damage from discord and abating internal conflict that has stifled the church's progress over the years. Consulting numerous print and electronic journals, ongoing leadership training programs and pastors, the project director designed a biblically-based teaching module that addresses spirituality, leadership skills training, gifts analysis with service opportunity, and conflict resolution. Another important element is evaluation of the trainees, director, and overall program effectiveness. A qualitative methodology emphasizing a grounded theory approach was used. It documents the experiences of seventy-eight men and women, clergy and lay, who served in senior leadership roles in mid-level judicatories, congregations, and seminaries representing nineteen denominations. Roman Catholic priests and parishioners participated in this case study. The researcher provided a one-day workshop on Lectio Divina and preaching preparation for the priests. He utilized focus groups for gathering qualitative data from both priests and parishioners. The project director also assisted the project participants in the application of Christian theology to their daily hospice service.  In order to achieve this, the project director wrote an eleven-unit biblical reference booklet for the participants and led them in ten related devotions.  The director used tests and conversational questions to evaluate the ministry intervention.
