This project identifies the issues of preaching readiness, develops a readiness formula, and provides for the preaching pastor a tool for structuring a personal readiness routine.  The research design combines an analysis of preachers in the Bible, a content analysis of homiletic literature, a readiness journal, dialogical interviews with preaching pastors, and a self-study instrument for preaching readiness field-tested by ten preachers. An analysis of the responses served as the basis of a report given to the administrative leadership that they might develop a plan to provide a more beneficial experience for students who are facing diversity issues now and in the future.  Results indicated that qualitative research is warranted. This project compares member tabulated results against director evaluations for Iranian adult and Afghan youth disciple groups meeting separately over the course of eight weeks. Their work, however, has not yet had a great impact on the Muslim sector of the population.  This study attempts to find solutions to this problem.  It consists of two surveys.  The first shows the attitudes and practices of the churches concerning church planting.  The second gives counsel from Muslim ministry workers on how to get the job done. This thesis proposes Base Christian Communities to fill that need with the purpose of effecting self-determination among marginal people by applying liberation theology based on Jesus' ministry, and parabolic patterns of gestalt psychology reflecting how Jesus taught self-determination. METHOD: Within auspices of the Episcopal Church, the writer researched, implemented, facilitated, and evaluated a base community of marginal people. The project used case studies to plan CareFest, and surveys and interviews to measure congregants' community service involvement and the perceived impact of such ministry on the church and community; event recipients were also interviewed. Post-event data supports that CareFest achieved its aims. The methodology presented in this project is a combination of the following six components.  The director of Church of God World Missions has vast practical experience at various levels of leadership.  His desire is for a practical approach that has a large portion of training time taking place in an overseas or foreign context.  The next area of focus concentrates on strategic leadership meetings. While much time has been spent consulting with Church of God World Missions, other key departments have been consulted within our denomination as well. The third area of impact on the methodology of this project is the literature review.  Various sources have been used including lecture notes, books, and dissertations on holistic discipleship.  In addition, the literature review gathers specific information for the missionary training manual that is not a part of this dissertation project.  Another major factor that influences this project is my past ten years of experience in leading a discipleship training program.  These years of experience play a crucial role in shaping the discipleship component of the missionary training paradigm.  The fifth major area that has shaped this project is the courses and faculty I have been exposed to at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Several professors taught modules that have helped establish a holistic discipleship structure to minister to the whole person.  The final component is the data that was received from current Church of God missionaries that completed the design questionnaire.
