This project focuses upon identifying foundational traits of effective leaders so that readers will have guidance for the nurture and selection of congregational leaders for mid-size congregations. Utilizing ecclesiastical and secular literature related to leadership and a qualitative study of effective leaders in a particular congregation, the findings of this project result in a description of critical leadership traits that enable an atmosphere for Christian ministry. This project focuses on children reclaiming roles of leadership from the early church and using these roles to be leaders of the modern church.  The roles of children in the early church are explored, and current developmental perspectives of children are examined.  A study is conducted of children and their leadership in worship employing the roles of children from the early church. This dual model, which sees human nature as fixed with biologically assigned roles for men and women, is contrasted to additional models, most notably a multi-polar anthropology which sees human nature as informed by culture. A program evaluation instrument was prepared in the form of a survey that was included in every teacher's manual of the beginner, primary and junior curriculum during the summer 2005 quarter (June, July, August).  Through the use of thirty definitive statements and three open-ended questions, the evaluation instrument examined the quality and effectiveness of four areas of the curriculum as observed by the teacher: the teacher's manual, the learner's manual, the make and take portion, and the visual aids.  The author found that the curriculum researched did not help the teacher teach the Bible as accurately, plainly, age-appropriately and applicationally as it should. Trinity Baptist Church is located in a city that is seeing phenomenal growth and change, from being a small farming community to the second largest municipality in Orange County, Florida.  Many of the people moving to our community are members of the Bridger Generation, which is the second largest generation in American history.  This generation is very different from previous generations.  The challenge for the church is to develop a strategy to evangelize the young adults.  This project researched strategic methods used to evangelize young adults.  Upon completion of the research, the project director led a select group of young adults to create a strategy to evangelize young adults in Apopka, Florida. Although the congregation decided not to reinstitute the office of deacon at this time, significant learning and growth in perspective occurred concerning the nature of change in small congregations. The project director had an expert in the field of curriculum development tutor him in curriculum development and evaluate his lesson plans.  Once tutoring had taken place, the project director developed a workshop consisting of six ninety-minute sessions.  The project director led these sessions for the selected group of First Baptist Church, Pontotoc, for the purpose of equipping them to implement the seeker-sensitive service.
