Congregations established in faith and doctrine may examine and utilize the language, philosophy and training examples of several successful hospitality businesses to provide a welcoming environment and offer ministry opportunities to guests and first time visitors. The author researched three business and two churches to compare intentional hospitality processes, examined the congregation's statistical data, assembled several presentations, and educated the congregation of the results. The congregation examined its ethos and became more intentional in its welcoming ministry toward guests."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Perkins School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["9d359def-dc0f-4ac7-a978-8df771bc0984"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127174216941569,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:39:43.468Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f746c9cb-5860-4503-a55b-a3ab9dddbf09","accessControl_ssim":["adb42ea5-a164-4201-89cf-a329a6efb4b1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'Play it again, psalm!' towards a rediscovery of the tradition of metrical psalm singing in the Presbytery of Orkney"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:12:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8a582663-44fc-492a-a39d-69fe26493e13"],"hasLease_ssim":["715f1857-9491-4467-8310-a318cca23e5c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["George Tutwiler"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Graham D Deans"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church of Scotland--Presbytery of Orkney (Orkney, Scotland)","Hymns","Church of Scotland","Church music--Reformed Church","Hymn festivals","Psalmody"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Metrical psalm singing has featured regularly in the worship of the Reformed tradition in general, and of the Church of Scotland in particular, for over four hundred years, but is currently in a transitional phase, which offers both challenge and opportunity. It is the primary work of the church and the way the faith community partners with God in God's redeeming work in the world. Luke's presentation of the early faith community in the book of Acts elevates prayer to its essential role in shaping the life and ministry of the church.
