The author led a congregation through several theological discussions that challenged them to think in a variety of ways about how one might respond to evil and suffering.  The Biblical and Theological reflections included, The Fall in Genesis Three, Evil as Privation of Good--Augustine, The Providence of God--John Calvin, Moral Evolution--Irenaeus as seen by John Hick, Protest Theology--John Roth and Process or Relational Theory--Charles Hartshorne. In each is an element of uncontrollable mystery: one's vulnerability at font and table, one's lack of control in transitional moments, and one's chutzpah in preaching God's Word.  She concluded that, in times of transition, the preacher should focus on the goodness of God and the mysteries of God, rather than trying to force a premature resolution. Personal participation in missions has been missing in many traditional South Carolina Baptist churches. There is a need to shift to a new paradigm of doing missions.  A growing number of South Carolina Baptist churches have implemented a partnership strategy--resulting in greater involvement among the congregation.  The methodology used in this field research was a case study involving six churches.  These churches had little missions involvement until adopting the partnership strategy. Following a series of interviews, case studies and discussions with a moving review process team, the conclusion was, the conferences of focus needed to develop a formal moving process, rather than informal procedures. The author first lays the theological, homiletic, and hermeneutical groundwork and then applies the theory to the development of a faith-sharing resource.  A survey was conducted primarily to test whether a critical and contextual biblical hermeneutical process would improve the quality of the group's homiletic experience--especially a greater forging of Christian praxis. He also wanted to determine if a focused study of one theological school of thought, process theology, could be a catalyst for leadership development.  Following the seven-month program, two members of the project team offered ministries of their own.  The group's focus on process theology, though having little effect on the members' theological positions, did have a positive effect of increasing their attentiveness to the nuances of theological understandings. Cultural change, if not initiated or fed by a crisis, is very difficult. It is aggressive and diverse and requires an entrepreneurial initiative, which not every pastor has. Special characteristics, qualities, traits and skills are required in order for these pastors to succeed. Just what those characteristics or qualities are is the subject of this study. To identify them, the methods or instruments of research used were a written questionnaire and an oral interview. The focus was upon five Brazilian American pastors who are successfully engaged in new church development in several different states.
