Traditional Black Baptist Churches in inner city communities are in a state of plateau and decline needing renewal and revitalization.  The researcher hypothesized that implementation of a strategic six-session Christian leadership training model would transform the church board from change inhibitors to change supporters.  A qualitative action research methodology incorporating preliminary survey, post survey, observations, and reflections was used to evaluate the effectiveness of this project. From their research team members developed a discipleship strategy that encourages small group leaders to disciple participants in pairs or triads. The objective was to establish an  evangelistic model of deep discussions, reflection sessions, as a relevant contextual model for planting churches to reach the people in Myanmar. The research and evaluations that motivated this evangelistic call were conducted through seminar questionnaires and response forms. A biblical approach was used with a practical application for an effective plan on a ministry basis. The study addressed the problem of transforming conservative attitudes about work and leisure within the congregation.  Project implementation occurred in two phases, a congregational survey and a Bible-based leisure counseling group.  Quantitative and qualitative data collected were analyzed using SPSS 13.0.  Eight hypotheses were tested, four were affirmed and four rejected. There are distinct preacher identities, and these can be determined as an outcome of a preaching survey. Data from a survey conducted among priests established three preacher identities: disciple, entertainer, and teacher. The study examines the formation needs for each identity while exploring pedagogics and methods, and presents a model for forming preachers using identity on the foundation that an understanding of preacher identity can result in better preaching.
