First, the church staff will engage in the process of identifying core values in personal ministry as well as for the Christian community. Second, participants from the church body will be involved in identifying core values. The articulation of core values will lead to the development of a clearly defined vision for ministry. The course is designed to promote mutually satisfying relationships among the couples and thus foster marriage strengths and personal growth by means of lectures, group learning activities, and weekly home assignments. The curriculum is designed to concentrate on five areas: the Lordship of Christ, Intimacy, Communication, Responsibility, and Planning. Each week a subject is studied and practiced in these five areas. During the seminar, half of the time is used to review the lesson learned from the previous week and half of the time is to study the new topic. All the principles of the study are drawn from the Bible. The project adopted a quasi-experimental approach to determine the success of the treatment. The design first established two selected groups, subject group and control group, each consisting of sixteen couples. The subject group received the ten-week seminars and the control group remained untreated. Pre-tests, post-tests and delayed tests two months after the seminar were employed to evaluate the treatment. The test includes the Spanier Dyadic Adjustment (DAS) to measure the general quality of marriage and the Marriage Relationship Evaluation Survey (MRES) to measure the specific five areas covered in the seminars. The findings of this study demonstrate that there was significant, positive change in marriage quality immediately after the ten-week marriage enrichment seminars. The change endured for at least two months after the treatment. The curriculum proved to be a successful tool to help Chinese Christian couples improve their marriages."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134123078713344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:30:10.418Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:37:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5116a5e1-d358-4c0e-98e5-fabae7929d62","accessControl_ssim":["a0c23756-40e7-41a9-b76c-ddb4e819ea60"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Creating the contagious congregation: a pro-active strategy for improving the corporate outreach of the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:30:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["12a94c16-9e05-476c-9955-9be1e6f380d3"],"hasLease_ssim":["8acb2051-b716-4be6-aeeb-6aa341b3b751"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Philip D Douglass"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Wesley D Wright"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Congregations","Evangelistic work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["While there are many studies and resources that encourage the vision and purpose of the church with a clear emphasis on evangelism, few take on the challenge of using the corporate worship of the church as a tool for helping the Christian lead the non-Christian to Christ. The problem addressed is stated in the form of a question: is it possible for the Christian to use the worship of the corporate church as a bridge between the non-Christian and Christ? The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a model which harnesses the worshipping church in the process of evangelism. A study was made of a one-year experiment in the life of one Midwestern congregation, using five special Sundays as means for Christians to invite non-Christian friends to an encounter with Christ and His church. The strategy was developed around two hypotheses. The first suggested that it was possible to move the inwardly focused church to an outwardly focused church through individual Christian invitations to large church celebrations. The second hypothesis suggested that it was possible to activate the inactive Christian evangelist by providing the necessary spiritual and worship resources that strongly encourage the Christian to be involved in the process of evangelism. Data were collected from a focus group within the congregation using a pre-experimental measure of attitudes, and post-experimental attitudes. Data were also collected from a voluntary survey of visitors of the special Sunday celebrations. Study findings indicate that the experimental method was, in fact, effective in reaching larger numbers of non-Christians for an exposure to the gospel. The findings also suggest that the evangelistic growth of the church was made more effective during the experimental year."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130807767662592,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:37:28.692Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:11:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"caad63dd-b751-4559-86d4-88c7c8ade1e2","accessControl_ssim":["0b9a0149-54f8-42bc-9c2e-41e260aa289d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Making disciples through Hispanic home cell groups"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:49:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:57:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["aa2a842e-b238-4f07-b8bf-73631f512cf0"],"hasLease_ssim":["d4d24e1a-e77a-474c-b87e-a3bfe3c23c0d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gary Wilton Waller"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert W Wood"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Primera Iglesia Bautista (Dalhart, Tex)","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Primera Iglesia Bautista in Dalhart, Texas, will be led to start a home cell group ministry.
