It shows how historic liturgy is contemporary by nature, and can be used in a modern and relevant way.  Educational tools were developed for use in both the worship and classroom settings.  Survey results provide information toward tool development and effectiveness. This study tests the hypotheses that parenting groups increase family satisfaction, and secondly, when compared to other methods of teaching, genograms are more helpful.  Ten parents were measured for family satisfaction before and after the group.  Participants ranked the helpfulness of genograms in comparison to other methods.  Results showed that the group using genograms improved family satisfaction.  Secondly, participants reported that genograms were only moderately helpful in comparison to other aspects of the class. The project leader will enlist a cross-section of church members for interviews.  The project leader, under the supervision and guidance of a sociologist, will listen for images of the nature of the church.  He will preach a series of narrative sermons designed to undergird the biblical images of the nature of the church. The compelling images and metaphors in the sermon series will replace the non-biblical understandings of the nature of the church.  These sermons will create a biblical, prophetic, and positive view of the church, by that helping the church in its goal of improving assimilation.  Following the sermon series, the project leader will again interview the interviewees, under the supervision and guidance of the sociologist, to listen for changes in images and metaphors. This policy was made clear after discussions in the mid-1980's. A prohibition against the ordination of women for such ministry, however, has not always been the policy of Free Church associations throughout the history of the movement. This study begins with a review of the history of women in pastoral ministry in Free Church associations. After an examination of history, and a brief look at pertinent biblical passages, attention is directed to the current 'traditionalist/complementarian' versus 'egalitarian' debate. Particular emphasis is given to a review of major contributions by EFCA scholars. The last chapter examines the opinions of EFCA pastors and lay leaders on the issue of women in ministry and especially the present EFCA policy related to it. The opinions were obtained through responses to a survey mailed to one third of the EFCA churches in the United States. Six case studies were done. The research showed that the interventions reduced or alleviated pain and deeply relaxed the patient in 100% of the patients studied. They assisted emotionally by reducing or alleviating fear, hurts, anxiety, and sadness. They aided the patients spiritually by enhancing or renewing their relationship with God and by helping them to deal with their disease. There is little understanding of the strategic need for a phased program of disciple making. Some churches are behind in this matter in that the church makes no arrangement for a planned, cohesive, well-coordinated ministry of taking people from the basic truths of the gospel and moves them on in the growing process. Pastors can have effective ministry as disciple makers and as change agents in the local church to help alleviate this problem. There are people in the local church who have never moved beyond simple belief in Jesus Christ; one result being a void in lay-workers and stunted spiritual lives. This major project is designed to demonstrate practically how a pastor can effectively lead a men's small group basic discipleship course. The author studied the scientific data supplying the plot and details of the story.  She compared and contrasted several contemporary cosmologies.  She described several biblical themes supporting a cosmically conscious hermeneutic.  After analyzing the needs reported by two focus groups of preachers she developed a series of hermeneutical exercises for the preacher.  She described and evaluated a workshop in which participants used these exercises in preparing their preaching.
