The collaborative preaching model was adopted, with some slight modifications, as the project model. The critical balance between church and family in relation to God's kingdom was considered, with the conclusion that God's purpose for the family and the church should be observed through the lens of His kingdom program. A major goal of the project was to determine how the church could build stronger families, so the composition of a strong family was delineated. Healthy families were considered from a sociological and biblical viewpoint and six essential traits were presented as the benchmark for evaluating a church's ministry to families. A case study of Immanuel Bible Church was undertaken in order to learn more about how one church was ministering to families, thus providing a practical element to the research process. This project examines the biblical and theological foundations of the local church and examines the social and psychological factors necessary when developing new ethnic missions.  These factors were discussed in Chapters 2 and 3. Church planting is a process whereby a church is planted by a local church through a cooperative endeavor of a pastor, members of the local church and the Holy Spirit.  To strategize about church planting, a Mission task Committee, consisting of eight pastors, was organized.  Chapter Four presented a synopsis of seven seminars on various biblical and theoretical principles for church planting. Chapter five evaluated the methodology used in planting ethnic ministries. Chaplains and laity received small group ministry training at the Air Force Singles Conference.  Surveys conducted immediately before and after the training disclosed a positive shift in their attitude toward small groups as an effective means of providing spiritual care and stimulating spiritual growth. The unique call of the congregation has challenged the church to respond to new needs and problems at the end of the twentieth century. The project is a study of the special role of congregations and the unique relationship between the social sciences and theology. It includes an overview of literature available on consultation, conflict and community and an analysis of two processes of intervention: 'shalom-building' and 'bridgebuilder.' Four case studies illuminate the two intervention processes. The study of four large North American Chinese churches will provide case studies profiles in order to learn what ministry paradigms are being used to minister to diverse, multicultural congregations. The project conclusion is that parallel ministry paradigm has the most to recommend for any growing Chinese church with multiple worship congregations and multiple pastoral staff. The method used was ethnographic research.  Three city churches that have experienced a death and resurrection process were studied.  A model for church resurrection was developed out of the principles derived from studying these churches. The study was of exploratory and descriptive nature. The data was compared and important themes noted. The results of the interview were viewed through the lenses of Object Relations Development Psychology, Metaphorical Theology as developed by Sallie McFague, and the work in linguistics of Lakoff and Johnson. The nature of this thesis-project is to explore and enhance the Eucharistic spirituality of liturgical ministers in the context of a retreat. A praxis-theory-praxis model of theological reflection based on the method of Thomas Groome is employed. Current spirituality is named and critiqued by the metaphor of the Eucharist as gift-exchange. This use of this metaphor is a theologically sound image capable of enhancing the religious imaginations of those who serve their liturgical assemblies.
