John"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper examines the impact of celebrating the Lord's Supper weekly on a small church in the Christian and Missionary Alliance.  The church has endured years of decline and internal strife.Incorporating data collected from congregational surveys, focus group feedback, and personal interviews, this study demonstrates that having the Lord’s Supper every week for twelve weeks resulted in a measurable improvement in the congregation’s sense of unity, as well as an increased sense of God’s presence in the worship services. This work contains a survey of trauma studies in the United States and its influence on theology, particularly Reformed theology. It also surveys several passages in the Gospel of Mark through a trauma-aware lens. John Calvin’s legacy is reconsidered through his own potentially traumatic circumstances. The project contains independent research on the impact of trauma-informed spiritual practices on the pastoral care capacities of nine pastoral leaders over the course of approximately six months. The thesis begins with exploring the social contexts of The Salvation Army, North American clergy, and working mothers. The thesis progresses to delve into John 15:1-17 and the historical examples of Susanna Wesley and Catherine Booth. The research methodology includes two Lenten-abiding groups and thirteen interviews. This pilot study (n=4) explored the effectiveness of its curriculum on spiritual growth, vocational discernment, and the use of spiritual practices. The curriculum included book studies, mission outreach, and the spiritual practices of prayer, Scripture reading, silence, and shared work like the Taizé community. Quantitative and qualitative data was collected at baseline, mid-point, and endpoint. It reviews the conditions of and reasons for these clergywomen’s spiritual crisis in today’s church and society. As a history project, it provides close readings of two women mystics: Showings by Julian of Norwich and Interior Castle by Teresa of Avila. These writers’ teachings emerged from their ministries to people who suffered during plagues, wars, colonialism, and unstable leadership.
