Data was collected through surveys given pre, post, and four weeks after the study.  The results were tabulated to determine shifts towards diversity and inclusion.  The strongest shift occurred towards seeing diversity as a positive aspect of community.  Married men under the age of fifty had the strongest response to the material."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["beb93775-0b27-4cc6-9fb0-f2ad62e68517"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130518295674880,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:52.630Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:21:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:44:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9a41028b-bf51-4f51-8510-ce09819f7f0b","accessControl_ssim":["b381bc9c-21cd-493f-976b-f6a0acac49f2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Affirmation and change: the promotion of inclusiveness in a United Methodist congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T03:21:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:38:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1d3ebebb-dc43-48f5-b1fa-0cd4be365800"],"hasLease_ssim":["edaa534a-b922-4507-865b-af4326b4ffd7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Candler School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Nancy Tatom Ammerman"],"year_tesim":["1994"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gary L Whetstone"],"keyword_tesim":["Inclusivity (Sociology)","Affirmation (Psychology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Candler School of Theology of Emory University"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author tested whether affirmation is a viable strategy for promoting gender inclusiveness as an alternative to more proactive strategies.  Using a specific teaching model, project participants reflected on present attitudes and actions about gender in light of a call to freedom and inclusiveness.  The project disclosed that using affirmation is a viable strategy.  However, the issue of inclusiveness defies simple treatment.  It touches every area of private and social life, and seats of legitimation vary.  This study offers leaders and congregations a model that will be less disruptive of set behavioral patterns and still promote inclusiveness."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135026534940672,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:44:32.021Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Gary L Whetstone","hits":1,"label":"Gary L Whetstone"},{"value":"William C Liming","hits":1,"label":"William C Liming"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Inclusivity (Sociology)","hits":2,"label":"Inclusivity (Sociology)"},{"value":"Affirmation (Psychology)","hits":1,"label":"Affirmation (Psychology)"},{"value":"Religious surveys","hits":1,"label":"Religious surveys"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Devotional exercises","hits":1,"label":"Devotional exercises"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":2,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Candler School of Theology of Emory University","hits":1,"label":"Candler School of Theology of Emory University"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":2,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1994","hits":1,"label":"1994"},{"value":"2007","hits":1,"label":"2007"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Candler School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Candler School of Theology"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Ashland Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Ashland Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Candler School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Candler School of Theology"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":2,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":2,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
