The author sought to identify the needs of worship leaders within the Chinese-speaking church, to help students understand biblical mandates and instructions regarding the use of music in worship, and then guide them in using those principles to both evaluate material from other cultures and develop material grounded in and suitable to their own. The author constructed a curriculum to these ends and taught it at various Mandarin-speaking churches around the world beginning in 2005. However, very few church workers have opportunity to receive formal teaching about the truth of the gospel. As a result, the foundation of the faith of the believers becomes terribly weak and unstable. The goal of this project is to teach church workers in China the basic truth of the gospel in a Chinese context for personal evangelism. It will seek to contextualize the truth of the gospel with the unique characteristics of ancient Chinese written characters, which amazingly contain the stories of the gospel. Church workers will learn the knowledge and skills of utilizing a figurative and factual way to share the gospel with Chinese-contextualized messages.
