Seven two-person teams composed of church officers carried the consecrated elements directly to the shut-ins each Communion Sunday. In this way, we not only hoped to give our recipients the joy of worship and visitation but also the consolation of knowing they are cared for by their church. The role allows her to bring to her chaplaincy her many years of experience working as a registered nurse. She is seeking to establish the new role in a way that affirms and incorporates all of her nursing education, knowledge and experience as the background for this new chaplain role. The stated goal of the project was to include church members with impaired mobility, and nursing home residents unable to attend local fellowships, as ministry participants in a weekly visitation program. Surveys employed to measure the effectiveness of the project's development and implementation provided statistical insight into the effectiveness and feasibility of such an endeavor. Willing residents in a designated nursing home and volunteers from local congregations met individually as partners and in small group gatherings within the institution in order to provide spiritual companionship and spiritual well being for the residents. Storytelling based on the Christian scriptures, affirmed one's value, enlightened one's understanding of God's presence in daily life, and fostered friendships. Responsive residents were surveyed, results were prioritized, and elements of the pastoral care program were modified.  A variety of worship traditions were incorporated in the interdenominational worship service for 60 participating residents and family members.  Some wanted formal Bible study, while others asked for a focused prayer meeting.
