It is the argument of this report that both an academic as well as a formational approach would work best to aid the growth of the resistant student. Qualitative research using a case study approach focused on a survey of 12 alumni of Bethany Theological Seminary who all began in the Fall of 2005, with an additional survey conducted with current teaching faculty."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128453959909376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:00:03.926Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:09:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:37:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b4ff4bc4-9b79-4437-91c2-209328d53fba","accessControl_ssim":["9dcb93d5-5090-4f2b-af74-c6ff6c544f1a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["When you speak of God do you think of God as a man or a woman? inclusive language and God concept"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:09:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:21:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["62db5dc1-5bec-4927-93ac-a6e59a7e8c09"],"hasLease_ssim":["9f1b1428-e385-4633-8ba3-88636e07d425"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Toddy Holeman"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David L Fisher"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["English language--Gender","Theology--Terminology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Using a researcher developed tool this exploratory study examines the relationship between inclusive language and God concept by comparing inclusive and non-inclusive groups. Interviews were carried out with seven clergywomen and twenty-four laywomen. The relationships described were categorized according to models of fathering developed by other researchers. Responses about gender-specific names for God were put together with father-daughter relationship data to see possible patterns. The greatest difference appeared between clergywomen and laywomen. Clergywomen were more discriminating in choosing names for the divinity; laywomen were open to a wider variety of names. Ideas were offered to help churches deal with this time when women hold conflicting attitudes about language."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129845176991744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:22:10.694Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:21:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:51:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3fe5667b-c967-4d0f-ac19-4b9b42672af5","accessControl_ssim":["fada85a6-0b88-447b-8641-042e12f9f861"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Enabling wholeness through prayer using feminine and masculine God-metaphors"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:21:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:45:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e4e70b47-8667-4125-8cba-98b9b16addba"],"hasLease_ssim":["8e3bb869-036c-4de4-9a65-682d57982e21"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"additional_rights_info_tesim":["Elizabeth C Nordbeck"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Based on stated theologies of wholeness, prayer, and spiritual direction, it was hypothesized that involvement in this process would enable persons to move toward wholeness. The project design included a prayer workbook used by participants and instruments used by the author and clergy evaluators in making observations of participant responses.
