It asserts that a continuing education program is a lever that can promote not only development and well-being but also spiritual maturity. The fast-growing church and a low level of education are realities the churches in Africa are facing. Many local church leaders lack sufficient training to care well for their flocks. This problem is exacerbated by multiple challenges the country faces. In addition to a lack of development and education, there is pressure to have a large number of congregants but no effort to build qualitative spiritual formation. Continuing education aims to change lives by equipping the local church leaders with knowledge and leadership tools that help them to promote change in attitude and behaviors. The training program set to reach the goal of maturity is presented. The author examines BLS in the light of practical theology, using the model and method of James D. and Evelyn Eaton Whitehead.  This method of theological reflection places Christian tradition, experience, and the resources fo culture in dialogue, suggesting a framework for discussing building and/or renovation of churches, as set forth in BLS.  A rationale reflecting a habitus of practical theology develops.  Pastoral strategies arise from this rationale. From 300 pages of verbatim transcripts of these meetings, six themes emerge: loss, longing, search, journey, connection, new life. All of the pastors studied were graduates of Piedmont Bible College, and all were veterans of more than 25 years in ministry. Clinton's five focal points are leadership perspective, learning posture, mentoring relationships, seasons of spiritual renewal, and specific discipline in ministry crises. The projects finds that these pastors perceive significant value in these focal points and practice them well. The project includes a literature search on the subject of 'mentoring', a survey of pastoral internship opportunities offered by a representative group of evangelical seminaries and graduate schools of theology, a comparative analysis of three local church internship programs similar to the effort at Blue Church, and detailed appraisals of the six internships already served at Blue Church, carried out by means of personal interviews with each former intern. Through the use of a survey research model 300 leaders with various experience levels completed a questionnaire testing this hypothesis.  The results are evaluated positively in terms of the response and through theological reflection.  There is need for further testing using a pre-test and post-test evaluation to see what difference the results make in the lives of older
