Content retention was measured through a pre- and post-test.  Personal impact was measured by interviews.  A series of ten sermons was preached, evenly divided in style between narrative and propositional.  It was concluded that the actual content was more important than the form it was presented in.  Neither form rated higher in specific impact. The training tool is called 'TELL' which stand for 'teaching exchanged-life living'. TELL is unique in that (1) it utilizes the Law (Ten Commandments) in showing non-Christians their need for a savior; (2) it utilizes tests for true salvation from the book of 1 John to help people discern if their profession of Christianity is real; and (3) it emphasizes our identity in Christ in discipleship before emphasizing spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, and witnessing. The project director guided a task group through a process of negotiating agreements, producing support documents, and performing the adminstrative tasks necessary for placing an appointed missionary.  The research for the project was based on the functions of Baptist associations, language missions, and church planting. Principles and insights of the action science model developed by Argyris and Schon (1974) and the ideas of Wenger on informal 'communities of practice' (1998) undergird three ministry-based explorations. A  Practicum group, a Roman Catholic group and an Elementary School Faculty were tested for evidence of a community of practice and any personal or communal transformations. The project has three main parts: (1) chapter one lays out the theological underpinnings for the central thesis, a definition of evangelism that can be used effectively and with integrity in the preparation and carrying out of weddings and funerals, and three 'guidelines' pastors can use as they prepare weddings and funerals with evangelism in mind; (2) chapters two and three each contain three case studies which serve to illustrate the central thesis and function as models for pastors who wish to be more effective in their wedding and funeral ministries; (3) the fourth chapter summarizes the author's conclusions and learnings. Miriam of Kadesh and Miriam of Magdala are held up as exemplary models.  This research exposes systematic patterns of exclusion which have resulted in a subordinate position for women within the Roman Catholic Church. Central to this model is its combination of education, worship and entertainment.  The model was field-tested on 29 April 2000.
