A comparison of ten sermons preached, alternating between three-dimensional visual illustrations and verbal illustrations was conducted. Quantitative analysis revealed participants remembered visually illustrated sermons better than verbally illustrated sermons. Like music, it seeks to engage the listener, to evoke, express, and persuade.  By actually creating music as a sermonic event, the Word is proclaimed, not only by the preacher, but by all who participate in its utterance, participation which can include the entire congregation.  To study the possibilities of musical preaching and its effect on the congregation, this project was undertaken in a special, alternative worship service designed to reach non-church people.  The two preaching projects included here were one musical sermon and one service in which all of the liturgical elements were created musically as a preaching mechanism. Participation and the creation of a sense of community were primary goals.   Worshippers were interviewed following each service. We discovered that worshippers found the music to be a powerful part of the worship experience. Church growth literature, Scripture, and leadership literature from both the church and the marketplace were surveyed.  Thirty-two pastors were interviewed who have pastored churches that grew from 150 to over eight hundred. The theological model for this training revolves around the Biblical term 'Paraclete', which is used in the Gospel of John.  The three key attributes of the Paraclete, and thus the core curriculum for the training process are: 1) support and therapeutic alliance, 2) spiritual direction, and 3) effective prophetic confrontation. Various aspects of the women's lives are read: the broader ANZ and Archdiocesan context in which they teach, the spiritual landscape and in particular the geographic landscape which they inhabit. Also explored are the ways in which these women read the Bible. The final chapter presents a plan of a resource to enable women to read the Bible and the landscape together for their spiritual enrichment. It examines the issues associated with the change that is needed for pastors who are considering the prospects of becoming church planters. This work provides a look at the biblical and theological principles which provide the mandate for church planting as a point of reference. Pie charts are provided to graphically display the results of 200 replies that were secured from church planters. Working pedagogically from the premise that sermonizing is more adequately taught by means of a specific form, the guidelines of deductive preaching have been applied to Craddock's indirect method. The reason for such a procedure is to provide students whose background is in deductive preaching a form by which they can initiate the process of constructing indirect sermons. The research presents the fruit of study concerning the postmodern worldview, the biblical worldview and the methodology of chronological Bible storying to aid eht church in addressing this problem.  A suggested seminar utilizing the storying model to address the postmodern worldview with the biblical worldview is included.
