Working pedagogically from the premise that sermonizing is more adequately taught by means of a specific form, the guidelines of deductive preaching have been applied to Craddock's indirect method. The reason for such a procedure is to provide students whose background is in deductive preaching a form by which they can initiate the process of constructing indirect sermons. The research presents the fruit of study concerning the postmodern worldview, the biblical worldview and the methodology of chronological Bible storying to aid eht church in addressing this problem.  A suggested seminar utilizing the storying model to address the postmodern worldview with the biblical worldview is included. The Introduction to Discipleship was offered during the first semester and focused on biblical foundations, theory and practice, and participation in a discipling relationship.  During the second semester students were invited into a discipling relationship with the instructor.  Students were surveyed at the beginning of the year regarding their assurance of salvation, commitment to ministry, knowledge, commitment, and overall confidence to discipleship in ministry. He sought to determine how life in covenant with other clergy around a specific theme could edify the body and help each to grow in faith and grace on the order of the first Methodist preachers. The research model for the project was a pretest-posttest design involving the evaluation of the subjects' video-taped role-play concerning grace. Two judges used a Likert scale to evaluate the performances according to seven different criteria. The project included teaching sessions on ritual and spiritual formation, mission service, a weekend retreat, and ultimately the crafting of a congregational worship service that included a ritual transition (litany for new drivers) and celebration of the many stages of life. Evaluative instruments included survey, interview and questionnaire. Gospels","Bible--Criticism, interpretation","Queen's Creek United Methodist Church (Hubert, NC)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Project was designed to give Queen's Creek United Methodist Church, Hubert, North Carolina, a Bible study to be used to teach new Christians a basic understanding of Jesus Christ on which to build their faith. The eight-week Bible study on the Gospels was developed with context associates and employed by new Christians. Both groups took tests before and after the study to determine the study's effects on their biblical understanding and faith. A third group took the tests but not the study. As a result of this study, the followings conclusions can be made. (1) The coordinator of the HBRC must be permitted to participate in team decision making as an equal. (2) The coordinator of the HBRC must be empowered to make decisions pertaining to the center's ministry independent of the team of district superintendents when necessary. (3) A process of discernment needs to be established and implemented to discern the types of ministries needed in Baltimore. This process should be inclusive of as many voices as possible. (4) An advisory committee needs to be established to address concerns of the center, structural and ministerial. (5) There is a basic flaw between available resources and the authority to pursue ministries, rendering the HBRC dysfunctional.
