Due to the rapid population increase in the city of Keller and the growth in membership of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, most people are unaware of the exciting history of the church and its role in the community. After the history of the church has been carefully constructed, a thirteen-session seminar will build a change in attitude toward the history of the church in a control group of five to eight participants. Their knowledge of the history of the church will be evaluated through tests given at the beginning and end of the seminar. The seminar will hopefully serve as the foundation for three new teams. An historical committee must be established to maintain historical records. Another committee will be formed from this control group to organize the sesquicentennial celebration of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in July of 2000. Last, a committee will be formed to assist as a transition team in ministry planning for the twenty-first century."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132808891072512,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:09:17.112Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:04:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3daa3b0e-30ef-4fc3-a560-9d1d8d6c3501","accessControl_ssim":["4c1a9998-e9db-441a-983d-3b359ccbcbcf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A discovery of the significance of church building in the fulfillment of the Great Commission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:55:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["99c46031-f8c4-4a87-97a4-26fe2bb8f755"],"hasLease_ssim":["ddcaa3f4-f02c-46e4-956a-b039a1ff0196"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Houston Graduate School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Terry Curtis"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Virgilio C Torrefiel"],"publisher_tesim":["Houston Graduate School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Spiritual formation","Church membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The focus of the writer's study are the local churches of Jaro Gospel Church and Grace Friends Christian Church in the Philippines. It is concerned with the reasons why churches find themselves in such predicaments. An emphasis is placed on the biblical theology of restart. Of special concern is the research on the fall of modernity and the rise of postmodernism to take it's place. The thesis begins with a biblical theology of restart that is rooted in the purposes of God. The author demonstrates God's unflinching desire to accomplish His purpose even if it means setting aside unfruitful churches and drafting new agents. The third chapter addresses the purposes of God as they relate to the local church. What happens when a church departs from the purposes of God? The next section addresses the critical issue of postmodernism and how it's advent has pulled culture further from the culture found within most churches. Chapter five outlines the process of restart within the context of the local church. A step-by-step process is outlined and discussed. The work concludes with a chapter on leadership and team development. As we move into the new millennium information will continue to accelerate and changes will occur quicker and with more frequency. The chapter discusses the need for changes within the infrastructure of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132486758039552,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:04:09.901Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:38:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1742b711-4959-4506-954e-def02030977e","accessControl_ssim":["500559b7-a6c5-421d-b732-5f0200c4ecb3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["World-building through mediation: mediation patterns and roles"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:48:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ac0553d0-c30f-4a19-af44-c3865cb8bedc"],"hasLease_ssim":["dd166793-139c-4c15-a43b-0278a00126dc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["David L Larsen"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ronald W Toews"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Conflicts handled well make important contributions to humanity. The main reason is that there are very few pastors and no lay Christians trained to provide such care. The goal of this project was to train laity through practical, experiential, and clinical methods to engage in effective hospital visitation. This goal was achieved by training laity to provide pastoral care for hospital patients. The author planned for participants to attend eight sessions totaling sixteen hours of training. In these meetings they received instruction and participated in group activities. The first six sessions focussed on a basic understanding of pastoral care, the nature of hospitalization, the personal identity as a pastoral caregiver, the guidelines for the hospital visit, a model of pastoral conversation, and writing and presenting a verbatim report. The participants made five hospital visits after the sixth session. Final conclusions articulated in the last chapter are: (1) multi-dimensional prayer enhances church members in the areas of prayer, leadership, empowerment and morale; (2) the pastor's presence is essential for the effective implementation of multi-dimensional prayer; (3) fast-growing, multi-service churches tend to be Pentecostal and employ multi-dimensional prayer; and (4) Pentecostal/charismatic pastors tend to pray more and thereby experience greater church growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132275415449600,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:00:48.350Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:44:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:56:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"423271d1-c310-453a-8044-b121e7f37669","accessControl_ssim":["02173c0e-8cc7-4f8d-988d-fcf66f974711"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An analysis of the requirement of baptism by immersion for church membership: Middleburg Baptist Church, Middleburg, Virginia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:44:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:03:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["34262dbb-0894-47cb-81f2-a76d64d0043e"],"hasLease_ssim":["e2ca025a-8b78-413f-906b-0545c8208112"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James Nogalski"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Louis I Thigpen"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Baptism--Baptists","Church membership","Middleburg Baptist Church (Middleburg, Va)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project analyzes baptism by immersion as a requirement for church membership at Middleburg Baptist Church. The project utilizes four research methods: survey, interview, pretest and posttest analysis, and a five session study on baptism. Chapter one outlines the project's goals, the methodologies that assess these goals, and the setting for the project. Chapter two contains a biblical and historical overview of the rite of baptism. The third chapter looks at cultural trends and dynamics that affect Middleburg Baptist Church. Chapter four analyzes current baptismal beliefs and practices within the church. Chapter five presents conclusions and evaluations. The project concludes that believer's baptism by immersion best reflects the biblical, historical and theological history of Christian baptism. It also affirms that this practice is not without exceptions. Church policies must reflect the congregation's understanding of baptism, without the extremes of radical exclusivism or treating the practice of baptism as irrelevant."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128256060063744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:56:55.194Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:44:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:29:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4e483319-3f53-4334-8bab-5db3f219953f","accessControl_ssim":["7863bfe2-4988-4385-bb1b-ce89df743d40"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A development of a program for the training of Christian and Missionary Alliance nominating committees: a program development and evaluation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:44:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:25:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["afcf3155-1645-41fd-8b44-274dbe1ef593"],"hasLease_ssim":["a928fe63-388c-4391-8946-8ebffb8975df"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bruce K Terpstra"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church committees","Elders (Church officers)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A program was developed to train local church nominating committees in the Christian and Missionary Alliance to choose elder leadership.
