The result is that new believers are thrust into the church without a good foundation or they become uninterested in church. The purpose of this project is to use storying with new believers and seekers. This project utilizes storying for the teaching of biblical knowledge. Storying is used among international missionaries attempting to reach people who communicate in an oral tradition. Yet those in visual and written cultures often become uninterested in the gospel when it is taken out of it's narrative context. The writer measures the students' knowledge of the stories chosen for the project. The writer then tells a Bible story each week during the project. The writer allows the students to answer questions, ask questions, and react to the story in small groups. The writer then evaluates the students' understanding of the stories based on the feedback received from the students. The writer intends that storying be used to introduce salvation and discipleship to the students. Chapter 4 shares theological beliefs regarding grief and loss from biblical times as well as traditional and current beliefs. This is followed by a proposed new theology of death and grief. Chapter 5 provides the date and summary of questionnaire responses and an enrichment program as a model for the church's ministry. Chapter 6 is a summary of findings, culminating in a personal reflection on the topic."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131734940581888,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:12.913Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:17:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:55:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"52dc71b1-da02-4633-a4ec-12acd03dc8b7","accessControl_ssim":["bb152f5c-bf29-4de8-86a8-aa6ab07a66cb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Whose time is it?"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:17:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:33:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["430e2597-3e8d-4ece-a270-e586f62c385e"],"hasLease_ssim":["12f91627-3c98-46e3-bc76-ff02a5973627"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Hearn Chun"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Farrell, Nancy J."],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Time--Religious aspects--Comparative studies","Time management","Heschel, Abraham Joshua, 1907-1972"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper maintains that the Church is called to look to God, who first sanctified time, to guide us in ordering and expending our time.
