By employing narrative methods found in biblical rhetorical criticism, this paper seeks to build a bridge between traditional evangelical doctrines and those who have departed from them, offering a hospitable space for re-exploration of faith and identity. The use of rhetorical criticism by Phyllis Trible enriches the discourse, providing ways a writer may create a literary sanctuary to allow others reconsider their spiritual heritage. Humanity was created to share in that relational love. In pride, the created chose knowledge over a relationship with the Creator, breaking God’s designed order and His anthropomorphic heart. The Trinity gifted humanity their independence while presenting an opportunity to restore them back into relationship. If every person were a house, each house would be a wreck, ravaged by the devastation of sin, desperately needing complete renovation. I used a charismatic metaphor to depict the Trinity as a renovation team, suited up in steel-toed boots, with the tools of the trade hanging off carpenter belts, ready to remodel lives. The Father is the Master Architect, Jesus the Master Craftsman and the Holy Spirit the Onsite Coordinator of this Holy Renovation Team. This portfolio contains an explanation of the Trinitarian blueprints for renovation and a story of personal restoration. Some spiritual disciplines are discussed as the renovation tools of spiritual formation. The favourable results of a research curriculum taught with the goal of heart rehabilitation are reported, and the ultimate reason for this Trinitarian renovation. Holy sweat drips, and the clangors of hammers and drills are heard as the Restoration Team commences the renewal process of Renovation: The Trinity Transforming Lives. For society in general, and for the Roman Catholic Church in particular, the global increase in migrants poses many questions and challenges that require coordinated, committed, and compassionate responses in order to welcome, protect, promote, and, above all, integrate them into the social and parish fabric. Also, the growing phenomenon of human mobility inevitably involves the encounter of different cultures, an encounter that places individuals and groups before various dynamics: assimilation, acculturation, disintegration, and integration/mestizaje. As pastor of a neighborhood parish in the south of Madrid, I am convinced that only integration/mestizaje is a valid response. But how do the host parishes –pastors, lay leaders, and the whole community- welcome these new cultures Latino Catholic migrants (LCMs) represent, how do they promote their integration into the parochial fabric?\r\nFocusing on the case of LCMs in an urban Spanish context, this thesis project drew on a completely new qualitative research with a selected group of five LCMs present in two parishes of the suburban area of Madrid. The research consisted of personal interviews using an open-ended questionnaire that aimed to answer the question of whether it is true that promoting the full integration of LCMs into the Spanish parochial fabric would result in a mutual enrichment that would revitalize not only the way the local community worships but also its own identity, vitality, and missionary commitment. The broad framework of this thesis project could be summarized in a threefold set of micro goals: to describe the current situation of the sample group, to identify certain patterns that might be common, and to put the findings in dialogue with the context of the host church to draw conclusions that can become pastoral orientations.\r\nThe testimonies I collected did not allow me to answer this question as clearly as I had anticipated. Rather, what I have concluded from the interviews is that LCMs enter the parishes in Madrid without any problem. However, this integration does not seem to involve a significant element of novelty, the emergence of a new ecclesial reality, the mestizo church. A subtle but real neo-colonialism still delays, if not prevents, mestizaje in parish life. Nonetheless, this project thesis names a fourfold set of broad pastoral guidelines that, as scaffolding ideas, can inspire concrete pastoral actions that will serve to advance the birth of a mestizo church, respectful of and yet different from Latino and local cultures.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["jorozcoortigosa@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1795985452896878592,"timestamp":"2024-04-10T21:39:59.067Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-04-04T16:06:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-10T21:32:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"af020d53-8afd-41b1-bcff-d270b6af858b","accessControl_ssim":["6746caad-5653-42d2-9e84-81b44dd12909"],"depositor_ssim":["goodnewspeople@icloud.com"],"depositor_tesim":["goodnewspeople@icloud.com"],"title_tesim":["The Leadership Development Road Trip: Navigating Complexity, Harnessing Mentorship, and Embracing Shared Leadership on the Journey of Growing Young Leaders at Trinity Streetsville"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-04-04T16:06:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-04-10T21:32:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["441d613b-67b0-4911-8100-f31c18476843"],"hasLease_ssim":["7e6eb3ba-553d-4e92-b03f-b14d6737c17e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["D.Min."],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Apophatic preaching can subvert idolatrous concepts, which prevent this encounter. I describe apophatic preaching as preaching nothing (content) in nothing (prayer) with nothing (language).\r\n\r\nMy thesis aims to test the effectiveness of apophatic preaching in evoking an experience of the mystery of God by negative language inspired by Christian apophatic mystics. To be more specific, I intend for apophatic preaching to help congregations become self-critical of their understanding of God, appreciate that God transcends reasoning, learn the practice of letting go of habits of selfishness and ways of seeing God, and see prayer in terms of interior silence.\r\n\r\nI tested apophatic preaching with an RCIA group at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, DC. I tested how this group experienced a series of eight sermons in March and April of 2022. I tested how the group experienced apophatic preaching with a survey the group answered after every sermon. The survey had both “yes or no” and open-ended questions. I then administered a three-question survey to a subset of the RCIA group after the initial preaching series concluded. Finally, I invited an observer to all the sermons and asked for this person’s observations in an informal interview and over email. \r\n\r\nThis thesis contributes to the field of homiletics by describing apophatic preaching, employing it in preaching, and testing its effectiveness. As a result of this process, I discovered that apophatic preaching could make a congregation pay attention and engage with a message as it both subverts fossilized images of God and evokes the divine mystery present with the congregation."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/NoC-US/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/a5bf2d89-2326-4c62-b6ce-f2b026ae204f?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["a5bf2d89-2326-4c62-b6ce-f2b026ae204f"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["a5bf2d89-2326-4c62-b6ce-f2b026ae204f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["nihtgottes000@yahoo.com"],"_version_":1797976503338663936,"timestamp":"2024-05-02T21:06:52.736Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
