The examination of the lives of pastors, leaders, and lay leaders defined as servant leaders based on Patterson's doctoral work, helped in the development of an attribute-driven virtue-focused servant leadership development model. Five key directives of Jesus's leadership were developed and measured: (1) Jesus experienced life with His disciples, (2) Jesus engaged the disciples in their own development, (3) Jesus empowered the disciples with a clear vision, (4) Jesus enlisted the help of the Father for the disciples in prayer, (5) Jesus endured the Cross on the disciples' behalf.
