This observation prompted this project on evangelism as an imperative redemptive mission of God for church growth. Students at Deeper Life School of Evangelism participated in focus groups about possible solutions to this problem. How do pastors or church planters rediscover the essence of being church and doing church today? 'Being missional' becomes the most important rediscovery of this searching. A study is held to explore the theological rationale of the missional mandate and develop the theoretical presuppositions in order to make implementations in the context of a local church. This report reflects the process of developing a team of missional leaders who commit themselves to lead the church to become missional. Since these church plants were virtually identical in terms of time and style of service, the need arose to develop something antiparadigmatic. With a rationale in place for a hybrid church to meet on an alternate night, next came the planning and research phase, culminating in the launch of 'The Journey.' One year later 'The Journey' came to an abrupt end. What went wrong? What was done in the area of motivation to equip the congregation to become as evangelistically minded as it was effective in the implementation of evangelism? The project showed what happens when the total congregation becomes involved in witnessing for Christ. The project consisted of nine sessions.  The session topics were: pretest and introduction, evangelism in the early church, videos on evangelism, personal evangelism and role-playing, the role of the holy Spirit in evangelism, worldwide evangelism, simplicity of the message, persecution to be expected, and post-test and evaluation.  The comparison between scores of the pretest and post-test revealed a 45 percent improvement. This project develops a questionnaire designed to test fifty-seven possible barriers for qualitative research on the issue using focus groups.  This process was carried out in First United Methodist Church, Millington, Tennessee, in the fall of 1995.  The project discovered four categories of barriers: lack of biblical knowledge, lack of practical knowledge on how to witness, cultural effects of Enlightenment thinking, and negative effects of a 'Christendom' mindset. Through a video of a concert of original folk, country, bluegrass, blues, and gospel music accompanied by theological reflection, this project presents a view of the world that seeks to give its readers, hearers, and viewers 'EvangelEyes' to see themselves being, doing and telling good news. This integrative project has grown out of a conviction that a major impediment to active participation in evangelization is a failure to understand the Christian's role in participation with God in the task of evangelization.  This lack of understanding, coupled with human sinfulness, has led to a lack of ownership and a lack of participation in that task. However we may feel, whatever we may think or believe, many of us act as if evangelization were something 'someone else' should do. There are many resources that consider 'how to' evangelize. The methods used in this research are from the perspectives of biblical theology, systematic theology, historical theology, sociology, futurology, statistics, and practical theology. There are two parts of this research. The first part is the foundation of world missions and its development, including four chapters: The Bible and World Missions; The Church and World Mission; Church History and World Missions; Era and World Missions. The second part is the investigation of world missions and its implementation in the Chinese churches, including two chapters: A Survey for Mission Ministries of the Chinese Churches; and, Implementation of Mission Ministries of the Chinese Churches. Through surveying and analyzing world mission ministries involvement of forty-seven Chinese local churches in the metropolitan Los Angeles area, the author also proposes a feasible plan for the local church to implement world
