Thisportfolio begins with the author’s spiritual autobiography and with thatknowledge the model of spiritual formation was developed. The spiritual modelcan be pictured using an image of a wheel where Christ is placed at the hub (thecenter) of one’s life and is connected to all the spokes (or parts) of one’s life. Themodel works to encourage people to move Christ closer to the center of theirlives, where they can live and have their being in their “true selves,” as God’s willintends.Using this model of spiritual formation, a field research project wasdeveloped to help spiritually form the spiritual leaders of the OakridgePresbyterian Church congregation towards a greater unity in Christ. Using theExamen as a spiritual practice helped guide participants to focus and beintentional about noticing God’s presence in all things and therefore helping tokeep Christ as the centre of their life. The field research component helpeddetermine how the congregation’s spiritual leaders had deepened their awarenessof the presence of God in daily life."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133678917648384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:23:06.833Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:53:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:31:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"30ebce28-e094-4b56-ab1a-f0ffef8864e0","accessControl_ssim":["00ee027c-de64-46bd-9288-9d3c04e7090e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Even To Our Graying Years: Faithfulness and Renewal In An Aging Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:53:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:33:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b457ac92-561a-41dc-86ae-1b55da705c1c"],"hasLease_ssim":["74dc5292-6102-4142-b06c-4f44ea470832"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Advanced Practice of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dianne Reistroffer Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2020"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Engaging Biblical texts, Reformed Polity, the Spirituality of Aging, and key theologies––Practical, Vocation, Discipleship and Life-Long Learning––the project offers the church a clear vision for the future and a tangible plan to organize, energize and engage the congregation. The implementation of the project, involving the Worship and Christian Education ministries of the church, as well as the qualitative social research methodologies of self-report questionnaires and guided interviews, enabled the project to clearly communicate that vision and plan, and convey the sense of validation needed to establish participants trust, so crucial to the success of the project. The enthusiastic response, participation and support of the church throughout the process––particularly its leadership––offers a sense of confidence that the conversation will continue well into the future."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134234965966848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:31:57.123Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:12:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:20:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f0fdf438-43b1-43f0-98ef-cba1dc086740","accessControl_ssim":["d5efb9de-8d23-475b-bae9-dbb2daf339d4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sabbath rest: an essential spiritual practice in a busy culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:12:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:00:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a1e2d08c-a0fc-4259-81cd-d1863f76483b"],"hasLease_ssim":["113c41e8-2255-43ec-a2b0-f0756bcdad89"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Martha L Moore-Keish"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David Edwin Markwalder"],"keyword_tesim":["Practice (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Reformed Church","Gateway Presbyterian Church (Colorado Springs, Colo)","Sabbath","Spiritual life--Christianity","Rest"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["My thesis for this study is that a weekly Sabbath rest will improve the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental health of the members of Gateway Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
