Four classes incorporated blessing based spiritual nurture elements: creating sacred space, hospitality, holy listening, building community, prayer, and Bible study. The context for this project is a small town in Ohio that has been struggling with its identity and solidarity. The hypothesis was tested using a workshop, sermons, personal testimonials, and questionnaires. Research methodology used quantitative and qualitative measures. Participants had the opportunity to grow spiritually and in relationship with God. Through classes and methods of spiritual awareness, participants showed, from pre-test to post-test, significant change in understanding and moving Christian principles into praxis. It looked at how they changed as a result of that practice.  The Christian spiritual participation profile was used to measure the balance of and depth of participation in: their experience with God, their critical reflection of culture and self, their interaction with God's Word, and their relationship with others. The results indicated that there was such a relationship.  In other words, more spiritual maturity meant a more positive coping with the challenges of aging.  Spiritual maturity was determined by measuring a set of spiritual attitudes and spiritual practices. The primary focus of the class leaders is collecting money and attending to the physical well-being of their members in a limited capacity.  According to the general rules written by Wesley, attention should also be given to the 'means of grace,' or the practice of spiritual disciplines.  Doing so would significantly shape the lives of the members in their spiritual formation.  The researcher used pre and post surveys, lectures and small group process to gether, disseminate and integrate information respectively.  Readings in the areas of Wesley's class leader system and the spiritual disciplines were used to gain knowledge. The research project concluded that when persons were given tools and were intentional about learning and practicing the 'means of grace,' their spiritual journey was enhanced. Scripture makes it clear that love for the stranger through the practice of Christian hospitality is a mandate for the church.  Scripture also provides instruction for our conversations which are a critical element for communicating the humility, acceptance and love of the gospel.  This study has demonstrated that while the faithful practice of hospitality and redemptive conversation is a vital part of the church's mission, it is becoming increasingly difficult to be faithful in these practcies.  A review of literature and a series of interviews have exposed the worldview and external factors affecting faithfulness. When interviewees embraced the gospel, were taught by example, were encouraged, and engaged in hospitality and redemptive conversation, the daily resistance and barriers toward faithful practice were often overcome. The group of parents received workshop materials, sample curriculum to be taught at home, and instructions on how to develop spiritual disciplines. The training materials were introduced in a workshop format spanning the course of several weeks.
