The nature of God's communication is understood as personal and relational.  From a narrative theological base, imagination is the primary tool used to understand the Bible in general and the dream passages specifically.  There is a consideration of the influence dreams have had historically.  A pro-active research method is employed during two group meetings, where the participants are instructed to pray daily for each other and to keep a dream journal. M. E. Church reflects the multicultural and socio-economic diversity of the Albuquerque, New Mexico region.  While the church overall may be considered healthy, a problem exists in the way organizations and auxiliaries function.  The situation results in members acting as individuals rather than a part of the whole.  What is needed can be found in the identity of the early church as the body of Christ.  The body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12:4-26 provides an emphasis on relationships within the congregation of connection, coordination and accountability. A brief comparison of the Postmodern and Enlightenment eras is followed by communication principles and guidelines regarding clarity and relevancy. However, the message that John Calvin constantly reinforced is God's love for us. Mircea Eliade, Victor Turner and Paul Ricoeur provide the theoretical framework for congregational change, tested through direct observation, congergational focus groups, a survey, and interviews. Findings indicated that metanarratives are effective vehicles for conveying and shaping the church's values and identity, serving a corrective and evaluative function, renewing and healing. The research demonstrates the effectiveness of the system in assisting churches and church staffs in resolving conflicts.
