This thesis studied the impact of the implementation of the acts of service central to Steve Sjogren's servant evangelism on attitudes towards the mission of evangelism for members of Hope Community Church. A change in members' attitudes was measured through data and methodological triangulation,  using personal interviews, observation, and testing, thus combining both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study was conducted over five semesters while teaching a course titled 'Women and Religion' for Chapman University. For purposes of comparison and contrast, the author declared her feminism in the first semester but not in subsequent semesters. Physicians, nurses, clergy, and selected church members also complete the survey. Age is the chief factor in differences of attitude. Using the pro-active research model the goal was to transform the participant's attitudes and actions with the poor. The conclusion is that it is easier to change thought than actions. Making use of a spirituality assessment tool developed from a contextual practical theology, the project measures the effects of praxis ministry on spiritual disposition (including perceptions of God, faith, and mission).  The research indicates that the method is effective in accomplishing this goal.
