A worship committee was organized and instructed in the Presbyterian Directory of Worship.  Surveys were distributed to families and small groups before and after two special worship series, to evaluate the congregation's worship life.  Each series responded to needs expressed in the initial survey. This thesis was tested through a survey of 106 international students at the University of Texas.  Survey items were drawn from writings by authorities from each of the major religions on the subject of prayer.  Buddhist, Catholic, and Hindu students conformed to official profiles for less than one-third of the measured items, suggesting greater religious independence. These women have been the leaders and have formed the heart behind the growth in the Roman Catholic church during the last twenty-five years. This statement was tested with the use of a questionnaire, given as both a pretest and posttest, during the fall semester.  An effective female ministry was modeled during worship services in the semester, and a small group Bible study was held for four weeks in October. Data was compiled, cross-tabs were run, and the results were analyzed.  Sex was found to be of some significance as a factor in answering the questions. Two surveys were employed: an eight item survey was sent to district superintendents; and a sixty item survey was sent to pastors.  The superintendents reported that these pastors served credibly in two capacities: pastoring small churches and as new church planters.  The pastors were married men in their late twenties or early thirties.  Most had some form of formal pastoral training, half having completed seminary.  All found pastoring to be satisfying. These churches, though apparently growing numerically, are spiritually stagnant and encountering crises, particularly with their young educated members.  Through interviews with the executive leaders of four of the largest of these churches in Nigeria, and a questionnaire survey of about ten large denominations, this writer has been able to document the problems facing their ministerial training. The result of the research has served as a basis for proposing certain criteria necessary to revamp their ministerial training. The study examined combat experiences, vocational choices, depth relationships, and current ministry settings.  Results showed strong relationship between encounters with death or shattering of values and decisions to enter ministry. Results showed strong relational stability and hearing of posttraumatic stress disorder. Results indicate failure of seminaries to assist incoming students in task of integrating combat experience and religious vocation.
