The narrative approach to evangelism utilized an inductive presentation of scriptural and non-scriptural stories to prompt multi-dimensional conversion among hearers.  A twelve-member experimental group participated in training in the fall of 1989.  A twelve-member control group did not participate.  Pretest and posttest surveys and other instruments were used to evaluate the effects of training. Participants increased their understanding of the gospel as narrative and multi-dimensional conversion. A sound biblical and historical base for the devotional program was constructed by using the literary research presented in chapter 2. Chapter 3 outlines adapted procedures from content analysis used to evaluate the social research data received from the twenty Masterlife members taking part in the project.  The common devotional needs revealed in pretest efforts guided the focus for the new devotional curriculum.  The literary research in chapter 2 was used to address these discovered devotional needs. The writer conducted an eight-week worshop for fourteen students.  The validity of the workshop was studied through the use of pretests and posttests for the workshop group and a control group.  The writer completed a statistical analysis of the workshop using t-tests. The premise was that daily practice of the spiritual exercises promote spiritual growth which eventuates in a greater satisfaction in one's spiritual life.  A pretest/posttest method was used to measure both the regularity of practice and participant attitude toward the spiritual exercises. The Hudson Index of self-esteem was used as a pretest and posttest for two groups.  Groups A was exposed to the course which included practical instruction in hospital visitation.  Group B was exposed only to the pretest and posttest.  Fifty percent of the Group A participants experienced a signficant increase in their self-esteem level. Four students from Furman University participated.  The project design utilized a pre and postassessment of the students with a focused interview and three tests: the Theological School Inventory, Pastoral Counseling Response Scale, and Semantic Differential.  A didactic series on the minister as servant-shepherd was presented.  The students participated in reflection and supervision of visitation. The students developed greater awareness of themselves and ministry. The project includes a topical listing of all financial passages in the New Testament and Proverbs and an annotated bibliography.  The testing instrument developed for the project was a semantic differential that evaluated knowledge and attitude toward biblical finances. The hypothesis was that there would be no difference between postsermon test results following traditional sermons and test results following sermons divided into four parts.  The author presented six sermons in each format.  Following the worship services randomly selected persons completed a 20-question multiple-choice test to determine content retention.  T-tests of grand mean scores for tests following each format revealed no significant difference in levels of comprehension.
