Based on a biblical and theological understanding of growth toward Christian maturity, the project identifies three phases of Christian formation: choosing Christ, remaining in Christ, and living for Christ. The project tests this process in two congregations. The methodology incorporated a two-item questionnaire, modified case studies, and follow-up interviews with four of the twenty-five participants.  The five categories from Women's Ways of Knowing by Belenky, et al, asessed each woman's level of individuation and differentiation.
