The pastors were interviewed regarding 3 aspects of their upbringing; 'the relationship of the parents and their parenting method' 'the relationship between the pastors and their siblings' and 'how birth order within the family affects the pastors.' The content of the interviews have been organized, analyzed, and compared with literature and theory. In response to the problem the researcher studied themes of leadership in the Scripture and in relevant contemporary literature.  He then investigfated these themes in operation by interviewing twelve present or former ministry leaders and the leadership boards at five large Hmong churches in the United States.  From this study the researcher identified seven factiors associated with effective leadership among the Hmong church. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with six pastors who served on bicultural pastoral staff teams. The research focused on three areas: core values, emotional intelligence, and cultural intelligence. This study concluded that the pastors' self-awareness when combined with their commitment to the Gospel was essential to effective team leadership practices. This research project examined the leadership structure in selected Chinese churches in Northern California to see which structures are resulting in ministry effectiveness. By examining selected churches and particularly the relationships between the senior pastor, pastoral staff, and key lay leaders, it is desired to determine which structural model works best for this present time. The research includes a literature review, case studies of three Northern California Chinese churches, and one-on-one follow-up
