The author drew on two experiential theories of preaching: 'mystagogy', based on the work of Craig A. Satterlee, and 'preaching as celebration', based on the work of Frank A. Thomas. The author integrated and applied these theories to his preaching in his Lutheran context. Through use of a questionnaire, scores in six facets of baptismal theology (christological, soteriological, ethical, eschatological, sociological, and ecumenical) were compiled for the parish.  The relative strengths of these facets in descending order were: ecumenical, christological, ethical, sociological, eschatological, and soteriological. The historical development of confirmation is traced from its roots in the early church down to the twentieth century.  A case study is also presented describing one congregation's attempt to renew its practice of confirmation.  A traditional tendency to over-emphasize confirmation at the expense of baptism is questioned as well as typical methods of confirmation preparation. Confirmation is related to its roots in baptism and the process of initiating children into the church. In this trinitarian understanding of stewardship, Christian stewards are empowered through baptism to live as little Christs.  One of the critical needs is to reground stewardship in baptismal theology.  Baptismal theology also reveals the need for interpersonal relationships among God's people.  Without interpersonal relationships it is almost impossible to communicate and teach wholistic stewardship. It stresses the importance of a congregation becoming more involved in the baptism of each child and provides resources for parents to guide children.  This model for a congregational baptismal ministry includes concepts of the baptismal liturgy, the learning methodologies of the Small Catechism, and the redemptive approach of small Koinonia groups of parents.  This project was the response of two churches to fill an evident void within the whole church.  As of this writing, three other congregations have adopted the project: Augustana Lutheran Church, Boone, Iowa; Advent Lutheran Church, Streamwood, Illinois; and Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomingdale,
