The resource described bioethical mediation as a new form of healthcare ministry that helps to resolve misunderstandings, issues, and conflicts among and between healthcare professionals, patients, and family members. The resource was evaluated by ten experts. Using the participant/observer approach, all participants kept daily journals, answered a questionnaire, and weekly meetings were taped. This project found individuals feeling closer to God, gender response differences, and occasionally, typical Appalachian responses. The writer determined suitable tools for identifying mediators, then built understanding and awareness through teaching and preaching. The mediators then tested the process.  The writer wished to determine if characteristics and general qualifications for a mediator could be identified using various instruments.  The final procedure included an assessment of the writer in the way he deals with conflict.  Policy was established, mediators were identified and exit interviews were conducted.  The process also proved therapeutic, reducing identifiable conflict. Through the process of mediation, stereotyped images of who victim and offenders are will be broken down; mutual agreement as what should be done about the offense can be reached; and reconciliation can occur.  This program was instituted through the Marshall County Probation Department as a pilot project and because of its initial success has now become a part of the diversion
