The study proposed a pragmatic approach of engagement with and education of the youth. The methodology combined direct instruction for youth on Islam's nonviolent beliefs with group activities to encourage community cohesion. The author compared and analyzed a pre-program written survey with a final survey. The author argues that the Islamic community has suffered fragmentation as a result of this artifical divide.  The author contends that really understanding the concept of tawheed is the true answer -- the bridge as it were -- to overcoming  this artifical divide.  He decided to work with young people who were not as tainted as their parents. The author utilized cognitive restructuring as the theoretical construct.
