In the first phase, the project director administrated a survey to former summer staff and incoming staff.  From the gathered data, he developed a spiritual formation profile.  IN phase two, the project director researched the area of spiritual formation to discover core practices.  He then compiled a report of best practices for spiriutal formation.  The project director began phase three by constructing a strategy deelopment plan.  Then he assembled a strategy team.  Utilizing the profile data and best practice report, the strategy team developed a spiritula formation strategy for summer staff. The focus of the project was to establish and lead a cross-cultural team, composed of pastors, ministry leaders, education specialists, and lay leaders drawn from VMCM membership, to develop a leadership training program and document that program in a training program plan. The project director identified hermeneutical principles of preaching from narrative passages. The project director examined homiletical works and discovered common approaches to preaching narrative passages. The director developed and preached the sermons at First Baptist Church of Lyman in Gulfport, Mississippi. An expert evaluated the sermon manuscripts. The director recorded the sermon delivery on DVD. He used his research of divorce and depression to train LIFE group leaders to recognize and respond biblically to signs of depression in LIFE group members. He studied curriculum development in order to plan and lead the training sessions.
