Through a sermon series, a focus group Bible study, and questionnaires, the project sought to discover biblical and theological correspondence with the denomination's position. The key conclusion of the research was that with some exception there was among the congregation congruence with the denomination's doctrinal statement on a vital teaching that seems unpopular or unwelcome in the current climate of 'felt-needs' ministry. Exploring play's potential, this study asks: can play effect one's ability to car for others and oneself by stimulating new perceptions and capacities that foster individual and communal wholeness? Five capacities of play, befriending one's body, engaging the inner child, expressing feeling, developing spontaneity, and opening perceptive innocence, are investigated. Using Relational Cultural Theory and Behavioral Medicine a qualitative case study explores play as care, adapting transitional space into 'formative space of play' utilizing InterPlay. This study of pre- and post-residents in treatment for substance abuse was evaluated through qualitative analysis. The results show that participants and community residents alike were empowered and transformed during the implementation of the ministry model. The field study revealed that spirituality is a significant factor in the recovery process toward healing and wholeness. The course is designed to enable the student to develop a working knowledge of how the human personality and Christian faith function synergistically.  Through the integrative process, the student is guided in developing an awareness of the relationship that exists between human personality and Christian faith.  The goal of the project is to promote spiritual-psychophysical health and wholeness. Based on stated theologies of wholeness, prayer, and spiritual direction, it was hypothesized that involvement in this process would enable persons to move toward wholeness.  The project design included a prayer workbook used by participants and instruments used by the author and clergy evaluators in making observations of participant responses. A perspective of diagnosis and treatment is presented that is inclusive of the truths of the biological, behavioral, and cognitive modalities, as well as the existential and theological positions.  Each of these theories is surveyed. A case study is presented as a model of the progressive perspective.
