The design of the project utilized an assessment tool to survey adult women between the ages of 20-29. The most prominent finding of this project was that the participants closely to strongly agreed that the daughter's relationship with the father contributed to the feelings of unworthiness in forming a relationship with Christ. It is concerned with the history and theories of laughter in terms of how they connect with current pastoral attitudes toward it. Questions of appropriateness are central to this exploration.  A primary premise of the work is that laughter is a significant component of pastoral ministry, but its study seems marginalized by the church.  This incongruence is further aggravated by the fact that much of the rest of the world accurately sees laughter as a significant social force.  Except for the church, all other entities in society interested in shaping society seem to know the power and place of laughter. To address this inconsistency, this study reviewed all available literature and the Scriptures in order to discover the theories and views of laughter leading theologians and philosophers have had and then apply the best of the categories emerging from this to a current understanding of laughter.  Both surveys and interviews uncovered what the current understanding of laughter is for a sample of pastors within the geographical framework of New York's Hudson Valley. This was accomplished by the use of qualitative and quantitative methods.  Small group participants determined that they had experienced 'bounded set' behavior at this church.  A significant relationship was found between their desire for peer approval and authority figure approval, and their tendency to conform to small group and congregational norms.  Participants reported the highest desire for affiliation to their church, followed by a desire for peer approval, and last by a desire for approval by authority
