Three additional tracks were started beyond theology, including youth ministry, musicology and iconology. This facilitated a tremendous program growth, including in the number and percentage of women. Students volunteered to participate in a project that offered course and thesis support, counseling, fellowship and prayer. This was done via telephone, internet and standard mail. Surveys and numerous other contacts identified demographics as well as student ministry goals, program satisfaction and student stated program needs. The study concluded that student support services would enhance distance learning theological education. It recommended optional implementation, particularly for beginning first year students (who do not attend a week of residency until the completion of that year), and for students needing support with developing a master's thesis concept."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126955181998080,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:36:14.580Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:36:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:42:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"00fe520d-7e46-4187-bfbe-c0c030c9a43b","accessControl_ssim":["eb8a602c-14c8-4add-b83e-d077de2b06c9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The global Christian era: the impact of changing cultural contexts on the admissions process at McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:36:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:08:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["913da884-ff63-415a-92ac-f2923f1e54ae"],"hasLease_ssim":["3a2e3427-5041-459c-8a50-0284a0e64ece"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stephen Hayner"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ryan A Clark"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Theological seminaries--Admission","McAfee School of Theology","Religious education--Study"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Cultural shifts experienced by churches in the United States have impacted theological education both in the way seminaries educate and the way in which they attract and admit new students. First, this project reviews important historical markers in the development of Baptist theological education, making particular note of significant changes which have occurred in the past twenty years.Second, this project reviews recent research, by making use of data collected through orientation surveys, institutionally held demographic statistics, Association of Theological Schools (ATS) reports, phone interviews with institutions, and other publicly available research. The third part of this project draws on research in the areas of higher education, generational theory, marketing and organizational theory to help reveal ways institutions of theological education may evolve in order to adapt to changing cultural contexts. Finally, this project draws conclusions as to the impact of these changes on the admissions process and makes recommendations for future admissions processes at the McAfee School of Theology."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127376026927104,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:42:55.929Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Ryan A Clark","hits":1,"label":"Ryan A Clark"},{"value":"Stephen M Sherokey","hits":1,"label":"Stephen M Sherokey"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Religious education--Study","hits":2,"label":"Religious education--Study"},{"value":"Distance education","hits":1,"label":"Distance education"},{"value":"Education","hits":1,"label":"Education"},{"value":"McAfee School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"McAfee School of Theology"},{"value":"Orthodox Eastern Church","hits":1,"label":"Orthodox Eastern Church"},{"value":"Theological seminaries--Admission","hits":1,"label":"Theological seminaries--Admission"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":2,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":2,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2009","hits":1,"label":"2009"},{"value":"2010","hits":1,"label":"2010"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":2,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":2,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
