This analysis compares and contrasts Mark Dever's ecclesiology with New Testament teaching, as well as the ecclesiology of J. L. Dagg, a prominent nineteenth century Southern Baptist theologian. Dever's ecclesiology provides a robust view of church membership, which is needed in many Southern Baptist churches. Following a review of the New Testament emphasis on sound doctrine as related to church planting, and the IMB's current strategy for evangelism and church planting, an eight-hour doctrinal course was developed, implemented and tested over a 16-month period with positive results.
