The goal was to reach, evangelize and assimilate nonchurched nonbelievers in our area. We examined and evaluated our Sunday morning worship service. We developed procedures that ensured teams trained in Evangelism Explosion visited all Sunday morning worship and Sunday School guests and prospects.  The emphasis of these visits was evangelism and enrollment in Sunday School. It seeks to identify the form and content of preaching which are most effective for each generation and the nature of preaching which transcends generational differences.  The principle that generational cohorts have a personality is the foundation for differentiating between generations and identifying a preaching style for each generation.  The thesis project shows that the generational model can be used to form sermons that address particular generations as well as build understanding between the generations. The project consists of five chapters. The first chapter described the statement of ministry project, listed ministry goals, provided a background for the ministry, and discussed the rationale for the project. Chapter two sought to provide a theological basis for opposing gambling using biblical principles and theological concepts.  The third chapter presented the sociological basis for opposing gambling.  Chapter four described the implementation of the program. The author is interested to test whether a womanist model of care--the core beliefs of African American women found in traditional African religions, the oral tradition, relevant biblical affirmations, and ethic of eighteenth century clubwomen, as well as African American folk culture, can counteract 'at-risk' behaviors of children and youth by building psychic survival and self-esteem and inspiring a higher sense of hope and expectancy. Four testing instruments were used. Test results and behavioral observation indicate that each person tested in the study improved his/her sense of self-esteem, with the percentage of improvement ranging from three to fifteen percent. The mutual critical dialogue among the three sources resulted in recommendations for a renewed ministry to parishioners in behalf of spirituality. Two basic themes out of which the recommendations were generated were: 1) the image of the Church as a community of disciples, and 2) small faith communities. How can a church press toward a mark if they are not looking in a forward direction?  How can they press toward a mark if the mark is not identified?  These concerns are compounded when a high percentage of the membership will be gone every two or three years.  Imagine how difficult it is to make long-range plans in a short-term community.  The goal of this project is to create a process whereby church members can envision and perform long-range ministry goals.  The Shell Point Baptist Church in Beaufort, South Carolina, is in a military town.  Surrounding the church are the Parris Island Recruit Depot, the Marine Corps Air Station, and the Naval Hospital. Military personnel are temporary and are constantly transferring or deploying for lengthy time.  This professional project is an attempt to make strategic long-range plans even though many of the church members are short-term residents. Faith mentoring is understood as accompaniment that assists in vocational, relational and spiritual growth. Following Sandra Matthei's model for faith mentoring, three dimension of faith mentoring are discussed (incarnational, contextual, relational) and four roles explored (guide, guarantor, model, mediator).  The method of addressing each correspondent was informed by social analysis concerning Filipino cultural values and Charles Taylor's three stage metanoia model. The proposed weaknesses are that the relationship may be hindered by a church's sense of territoriality, by a church's financial constraints, and by the immensity of the housing problem. The study reviews critical foundations, both biblical and theological, that undergird the ministry of Habitat for Humanity as it partners with local churches.
