The second goal was to determine the best practices for revitalizing Sunday school by review of Sunday school growth principles. The third goal was the development of a Sunday school revitalization strategy for Hispanic churches in the Baptist Convention of New Mexico with the assistance of a selected strategy development team. The final goal was the validation of the strategy by three small groups of selected pastors and leaders of Hispanic Baptist churches in the state. Using an equipping project model, the project director researched the field of personal worship and determined six best practices: prayer, bible study, meditation, praise, testimony, and service. He then developed a curriculum to equip the selected members of First Baptist Church of Chickasha, Oklahoma, with these six personal worship practices. Following a six-week format, the curriculum utilized a weekly group session based on a personal worship practice, followed by exercises and examples of expression of that practice. Coinciding with the curriculum, each selected member completed a pre-test and post-test, self-report questionnaire, and personal reflection as evaluations of the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains of learning. It was a review of the challenges and opportunities we faced as Anglicans trying a new way to develop an international partnership. Five adaptations to the typical short-term missions of Society of Anglican Missionary and Senders were: 1) seminary friends served as hosts, 2) joint leadership, 3) use of locally available materials, 4) shared funding, and 5) singular focus on making disciples. It concluded with 12 common sense methods toward better mission practices. This thesis was the record of Trinity students who worked together to lead conferences for Sunday school teachers in Kirinyaga, Kenya."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126774400155648,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:33:22.172Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:01:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e9f1ac41-c51b-45a2-b88d-71bdde57473c","accessControl_ssim":["edd7ef2e-4a31-4c87-b629-6370c2a5bba9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Outsiders on the Inside: Racial Fatigue and Resilience among Black Pastors in the Presbyterian Church in America"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:01:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:49:50Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["505f337a-fa4c-4af0-a1c7-3f5fe75478a8"],"hasLease_ssim":["d4477ec3-a63a-4258-bd3c-bf9e19ea9b11"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"],"advisor_tesim":["Wesley Hill Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2020"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The biblical evidence in Old and New Testaments that God’s word is written, and should be heeded, is outlined. The doctrine of biblical inspiration is examined; biblical criticism necessitates changes in approach. Five historical instances of significant biblical engagement are described: catechetical movement; monasticism; Cranmer’s English Reformation; Charles Simeon’s impact; Sunday Schools. The Pittsburgh Biblical Literacy Task Force is examined, by review of materials, focus group, and clergy survey. Achievements are noted, and improvements suggested.
