This typically occurs in middle age and often in the midst of successful ministry, so it is often misdiagnosed as falling away from faith rather than progressing in faith. Such strong medicine is necessary because it addresses a serious affliction: the false self which has smuggled itself unseen into the Christian life and forms the great obstacle between us and God as well as us and those around us. Through the mid-faith crisis, God invites us to lay aside the false self and its tools for navigating life, accept who we really are, and to grow ever more into our identity as the beloved of the Father. While the mid-faith crisis is divinely initiated and sustained, there is room for human participation in the work. This research portfolio explores the author’s own mid-faith crisis, proposes a model for the phenomenon and reports the results of an action research project to develop and deliver a curriculum that introduces conservative Evangelicals to the mid-faith crisis. It concludes by identifying further potential development of the model and the curriculum."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133371014840320,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:13.195Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:41:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:45:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"10a3903d-aae5-467e-8660-ea033a655337","accessControl_ssim":["cce03493-336a-4f68-b15f-a4d8bbcd315d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'Lessons of Hospitality in the Parables of Jesus: Inspiring a Congregation to Transform Its Ways of Loving and Serving Neighbors'"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:41:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:36:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5125c239-45ff-4c44-8b7b-5c52e7a4c317"],"hasLease_ssim":["f8f5ed26-899c-4984-9590-a8f258b39eb5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Church and Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jeffery L. This is to say, formation toward Christlikeness is not to be understood as an individualized process whereby the individual grows in Christlikeness in an isolated and privatized manner. Rather, formation toward Christlikeness is a Spirit-led process that primarily occurs within the community of faith. The baptismal community is the very context of Christlike formation. This portfolio looks at communal formation through three, integrated components. Firstly, communal formation, along with its various components and nuances, will be described through an appeal to the Anglican baptismal liturgy. Secondly, scenes from the author’s own autobiography will serve to illustrate how communal formation may be practically experienced. Lastly, the author’s own research into the practice of Morning Prayer will highlight the importance of shared liturgy within communal formation. The portfolio argues that one is not formed individually, rather one is called to participate in the formation of the community. This is seen as occurring through immersion in shared liturgy, embodied action, and evangelistic mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133419951882240,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:18:59.865Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:23:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6a269c8c-e8f0-4eef-b382-1090737eee7d","accessControl_ssim":["bf0d9010-2a76-45f9-914b-4c502ba9b750"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping Selected Men of First Southern Baptist Church, Del City, Oklahoma, with Servant Leadership Skills"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:14:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["37ada64b-a6db-455c-854a-42aeebc4ebcd"],"hasLease_ssim":["6d51284a-6e72-44c9-8341-62c82b3e1662"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bo Rice Ph.D.","Reggie Ogea Ph.D.","Joe Sherrer Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"location_tesim":["Oklahoma"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project director (1) explored the demographics surrounding MOBC, (2) examined existing models of spiritual health enhancement, (3) led a team in developing a spiritual health enhancement strategy for MOBC, and (4) presented the spiritual health enhancement strategy model to the congregation of MOBC for approval and endorsement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721622126460928,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:24:47.703Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:45:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c4166040-ac2b-46b0-a1c1-7ebab2ca0141","accessControl_ssim":["5a3bd8af-c6ed-4736-9b38-e3a2051fbc89"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Disciple-making: Key Ingredients for Building God's Kingdom"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:45:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1f1fa0de-a04b-4df7-bb8d-3237f77a6596"],"hasLease_ssim":["bcc9162c-432d-4e42-8c7a-748b985cc890"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Institutional Effectiveness"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"advisor_tesim":["Mike McNeff D.Min."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Sidney Wes Emory Sr"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Bible. His disciples were transformed by following Jesus in a way that obedience, transformation, community, education, worship, and the expansion of God’s kingdom became the central themes of their lives. This study addressed the need to understand the disciple-making process found in Scripture in a way that will yield the results that are found in the Book of Acts primarily those found in Acts 2:42-47.Christian churches of every denomination, tradition, model, and size have been called to make disciples. The Scripture, literature, interviews, and surveys researched in this project were designed to discover transferrable suggestions that could focus all believers on the results of following the plans of God to build his kingdom using the process of disciple-making.The results of the project revealed that the key to building the kingdom of God is found in the practices and plans of the ultimate disciple-maker, Jesus. It recommends having the correct mindset in of making disciples a part of everyday life, creating a deeper understanding of the worship of God, living relationally connected to other people in a process of becoming more like Christ, and focusing on God first in everyday life"],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fccbc3d7-874c-42e3-8a20-621b107c56c7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133017850249216,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:36.389Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:46:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cdae9d48-8e87-40b0-a067-df7058e4e83f","accessControl_ssim":["6067f9f7-3927-4736-a283-6b9ecb30d38e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Using The Truths Embodied In The Lord'S Prayer To Disciple Newbelievers At The Summit Church, Saline County,Benton, Arkansas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:40:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:02:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["00a96a8b-589f-4227-acb2-2e90a02cfabd"],"hasLease_ssim":["e207ba1f-b219-457b-9706-a58725447d42"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Preaching"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Beeson Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert Smith Jr Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2019"],"location_tesim":["Arkansas","United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Phillip Zachary Reno"],"subject_tesim":["Discipling (Christianity)","Lord's prayer","Theology, Doctrinal","Church work with adults","Preaching","Sermon on the mount"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of the praxis director’s ministry praxis was to use the theological truths embodied within the Lord’s Prayer for the purpose of discipleship of new believers at the Summit Church, Saline County, in Benton Arkansas.
