During the first phase of the project, the project director explored the Beatitudes (Mt: 5:3-16) and existing disciple-making models to develop a profile consisting of the salient components of a mture desciple of Jesus.  In the second phase, the project director researched various methods for strategy development and led the elders and selected leaders to develop a disciple-making strategy for Welsh Baptist Church. To do so, it uses two layers of research strategies: (1) at the national level, a qualitative analysis of two national reports and generalizations made about the American Church and culture and (2) at the regional level, an anonymous survey of individuals and participation in both a nondenominational church plant and an established mainstream congregation.
