I researched and identified key leadership-coaching competencies from various organizations that could be used to equip the staff. Relevant competencies were then selected based on research, staff surveys, and contextual needs. Training modules were created using the selected competencies. Finally, I equipped pastors and staff, utilizing the developed training modules, with methods that allowed them to develop and practice \r\nleadership-coaching competencies. There were three project goals and two professional goals. The assessment of these goals involved feedback from expert evaluators, such as Dr. Donna Stewart and Dr. Jay Howell. This project began with research in the field of conflict management and identified skills that are applicable to a local Southern Baptist Church. The project director developed a workshop to train selected leaders with the skills needed to manage church conflict. The selected leaders included deacon officers, committee chairpersons, and full-time church staff from the First Baptist Church of Oxford, Mississippi. This workshop included skill presentations and opportunities for case study applications. The pastor of Union Baptist Church in Clarke County, Mississippi, is planning to launch Christian addiction-recovery ministries centered on weekday Celebrate Recovery [registered symbol] meetings. The ministries are collaborative works involving selected Chrsitians from Southern Baptist churches in the local Baptist associations. Phase two of these ministries include the addition of a rotating Friday night contemporary worship service at the same non-church locations where the weekday meetings will be held. Three goals are the foundation of this Doctor of Ministry equipping project. The first goal is to research addiction recovery in order to identify group facilitation skills. The second goal is to develop a curriculum to equip selected addiction-recovery ministry leaders in east Mississippi, in group facilitation skills. The third and final project goal is to equip selected addiction-recovery ministry leaders in east Mississippi, in group facilitation skills.
