In the project, the reader will be given biblical, theological, historical, and ecclesiological examples of what a healthy family ministry can look like. This project is meant to encourage and equip future and current ministers, especially those with few resources, as they seek to develop a healthy family ministry culture in their contexts. Churches can see healthy family ministry established in their midst regardless of the number of resources at their disposal. Throughout the project, the reader is given biblical instruction regarding the primacy of parental discipleship in relation to the biblical instruction of children. This primacy is made even more specific when the project addresses the role of the husband and father in the home-discipleship process. The project then looks to Hebrews 3 \u0026 10 to address the need for all ages of the church to meet regularly. Once the biblical and theological groundwork has been laid, the project then moves into a section in which the history of modern youth ministry is examined in contrast with the historical precedent of family worship. Ecclesiological matters are then discussed in detail such as the importance of intentionally limiting church calendars and the need for a plurality of elders that can lead a congregation in meaningful membership which then leads to accountable shepherding."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132134715424768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:34.167Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:15:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:33:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"103b3735-7a5c-4a50-9bea-d2ff6364e787","accessControl_ssim":["5c7166dd-399e-4f58-856b-ae6754c2b913"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Everyone Eats: Preaching to Inspire Multigenerational Engagement in Worship Beyond Virtual and Traditional Contexts"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:15:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:35:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["044e265c-5db5-4c90-9aae-76e9110a7e7d"],"hasLease_ssim":["f94482e8-c422-4624-aea0-64cf9c7bad59"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Preaching"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gennifer Benjamin Brooks Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The biggest cause for the decline is linked to the massive exodus of younger generations from the traditional context. This phenomenon has inspired pastors, preachers, and thought leaders to engage in conversation of how to address the issue. That conversation has revealed generational engagement in preaching as one solution to stimulating congregational life within a traditional worship context. This thesis explores the use of a multigenerational preaching approach to inspire congregational engagement. This thesis will posit that preaching where sermons intentionally reach different generations in a similar context, will result in engagement for both older and younger generations. The principles of this strategy will also prove useful beyond the current virtual settings imposed by the Coronavirus."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.proquest.com/pqdtglobal/docview/2544258740"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fc8e637d-6b92-421f-936e-4844dc981265"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134309111824384,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:33:07.833Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:13:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:15:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ed81437b-ac9d-43b8-8331-1dde1d90f2a5","accessControl_ssim":["b5e6efbd-7bb8-4e1e-9a60-efa2a5f84cac"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Determining the Impact of Covenant-Group Discipleship on Current Church Dropout Rates of Students Graduating from High School"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:13:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:55:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f6a3879f-6f46-4432-a408-434288287473"],"hasLease_ssim":["d05ad432-d585-41ee-8e96-7fc7c96500c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Family Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard Ross Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Ed.Min. Youth ministry leaders must re-evaluate their approach and disciple-making strategy in their local church if they want to create lifelong followers of Jesus. In a recent study on church dropouts, Lifeway Research showed 66% of students stopped attending church after graduation. To further explore the findings from the 2017 Lifeway study, this ministry project examines the impact of intense biblical teaching and mentoring relationships within the context of covenant-group discipleship and its overall influence on church attendance of 116 high school seniors after graduation. The project director believed that students would demonstrate a minimum of a 15% decrease in the church dropout rate when compared to nationwide high school graduates who did not participate in an intentional covenant-group discipleship group.Chapter 1 introduces the framework and need for this ministry project. The first chapter communicates the research methodology, purpose, and goals as well.Chapter 2 of the ministry project presents biblical and theological support for disciple-making in the context of covenant-group discipleship. This ministry project purposed to demonstrate that covenant-group discipleship is firmly grounded in God’s Word and therefore a viable solution to create lifelong disciples of Christ in youth ministry. In Chapter 3 of this project, the project director examines the current state of youth ministry, an overview of the Gen Z generation, and multiple studies indicating what may impact the current dropout rate of students from the local church. Finally, the project director explores the discipleship models of historical and contemporary figures.Chapter 4 explores the findings from this ministry project in detail. The findings from this ministry project overwhelmingly support the project director’s initial proposition of church retention after graduation.Chapter 5 evaluates the many elements and facets of the ministry project. The ministry project’s purpose, its corresponding goals, as well as its strengths and weaknesses are assessed. Lastly, both theological and personal reflections that were discovered as a result of the completion of this ministry project are considered and presented."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133219755655168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:48.943Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:11:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:17:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cea973fc-17dd-4d90-aa5e-ae00266804cc","accessControl_ssim":["55caa465-5b39-4345-84b3-8bfbb783074f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Intercultural, Intergenerational And Interecclesial Dynamics Of Faith Transmission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:11:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:03:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3ae7c2d3-9cc4-4f92-bb32-a833439ff758"],"hasLease_ssim":["3a69b087-20ca-45db-9b90-4e2316e4cb28"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert Schreiter"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["India","United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thundathil, Antony"],"subject_tesim":["Theology, Practical","Eastern Churches (Chalcedonian)","Intergenerational relations","Church work with immigrants"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The present study germs from the search for a solution to the pastoral conflicts rampant among the Syro-Malabar immigrant parishes in the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Diocese of Chicago in the United States, especially in the area of transmitting traditional faith precepts and practices of the first-generation immigrants from Kerala (South India) to their second generation - born and brought up in this country. In addition, these OBC leaders will need to incorporate two more practices to reach their second-generation: (1) embrace a biblical culture above either culture of origin and (2) create processes that empowers the second-generation in leadership. This research project evaluated these three practices within three churches that were determined to be reaching their second-generation.This dissertation was divided into three parts. It opened with a literature review that examined each of the three practices relating to vision, culture and leadership. The dissertation then continued with the construction of the research procedure, utilizing the case study approach. Three Chinese immigrant churches were chosen for this study: Houston Chinese Church, Mandarin Baptist Church of Los Angeles and West Houston Chinese Church. The qualitative research method was applied to handle the field research portion of this study including but not limited to site visits, interviews, and the follow-up questionnaire. The findings of this project were discussed and evaluated regarding the significance of them and the recommendations for future study. The case studies affirmed the significance of each of the three hypotheses."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130365800218624,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:30:27.199Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:05:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:25:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1b0aea5e-583b-4508-b857-f7c99ea0ab9c","accessControl_ssim":["c0c2fec5-63ea-4edd-a2fa-9c48eb283994"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Moving beyond the tension and conflict between the first and decond generation within the Chinese immigrant church in America"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:05:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:55:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b8db38fc-a294-42f6-aa9a-846e95eb37e7"],"hasLease_ssim":["8dabfd1c-aada-4fba-9614-05c6a95c7405"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rodney Cooper"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Peter W Wang"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church history","Intergenerational relations","Chinese Americans","Church work with immigrants"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["While the problem of second-generation ministry within the Chinese immigrant church in America is well-documented, most of the research up to this point has focused on cultural land leadership differences between Overseas Born Chinese (OBC) and American Born Chinese (ABC), which set off and exacerbate the conflict between the two sides. This thesis will introduce a new paradigm for understanding the issue by incorporating the dimensions of demographics and church organizational development. These factors determine in part the potential range of English Ministry development in the Chinese immigrant church. Solutions to mitigate tensions are based on the concept of formulating appropriate expectations that are specific to the church's developmental stage.
