Congregants of one local historically black church, however, appropriated biblical and African American voices as prototypical sources of 'faith' to guide the church's response to those challenges. Thus this project examined how this historically black congregation thrived as a result of the use of Hagar's story and 19th century spiritual autobiographies of former black slaves in the African American diaspora of 1700 to 1899, influenced spiritual development and produced leaders among its female congregants."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720068644339712,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:00:06.187Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:08:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:52:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3cc9aadf-3de4-41b1-b1a2-15531849fc87","accessControl_ssim":["904857ec-f24f-4744-ac7c-db1c59f2eb50"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Landscapes of grace: reclaiming the garden's sacred place in church design"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:08:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:53:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1214e2a3-ce06-4829-a900-30a9ff906b99"],"hasLease_ssim":["9d809920-7eeb-4894-b7e6-ce89136be30b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rodger Nishioka"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carol L DiGusto"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church architecture","Spiritual life--Christianity","Church gardens"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Complex 21st century life does not encourage time for quiet reflection and prayer.
