The project director studied various resources in order to identify the key elements of an effective evangelistic expository preaching model.  Upon identifying the key elements of the evangelistic expository preaching model, the project director developed four sermons based on the elements of that model.  The project director then preached the sermons incorporating the key elements of the preaching model.  To insure improvement of the project director's preaching skills, the project director submitted all work to Robert L. Training included five instructional sessions in five successive weeks with assignments weekly geared to the personal application of session content.  The first two training sessions explored the elements of basic church greeting ministry and the expansion of greeting ministry responsibilities as presented in current church growth literature.  The third session examined the challenges of church greeting ministry as it is directed towards the incoming contemporary generations.  In the fourth session, themes were explored to prepare participants to share with church guests an expanded knowledge of Beth-el Baptist Church. The basic idea for the thesis developed as a result of class discussions on spiritual renewal and models of Christian spirituality. It also grew out of reading dynamics of the spiritual life and renewal as a way of life.  Spiritual renewal occurred in the evangelical Protestant church due to their emphasis on outward mission, the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the person and power of the Holy Spirit, and the prevailing power of prayer. Both Simpson and Bright saw the Protestant church in America and the world as impotent and in need of revival and renewal. As they emphasized evangelism and discipleship, they became effective change agents for renewal, as they were able to motivate thousands of willing workers for the task of world evangelization. The parachurch groups they started were not rivals to the existing Protestant church. Both men saw themselves as working with other likeminded evangelical Christians for the restoration and renewal of the church to a place of prominence and power throughout the world. Eventually, many of the individuals evangelized and discipled by the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Campus Crusade for Christ became involved in local churches, evangelical schools, and missionary sending agencies. This project focuses on five effective church planters and the contextualization of their ministries based on an awareness of the implications of the incarnation of Christ. The conclusions of this project report are based on qualitative research that focused primarily on an interview process. Through the use of Merriam's Constant Comparative Method, primary themes emerged that are reported in a case study format. This project focuses the intersection of John Calvin's theology of repentance and a communications method developed by Episcopal priest Eric Law with a particular Session and other members of the congregation. Law's method was explored with the Session. A qualitative research design was developed and a series of surveys and interviews with elders and church consultant were conducted. The hypothesis was that the preaching moment as therapy would meet the needs of West Africans. A focus group was designed and implemented to achieve goals for this Model in Ministry. Results of the Model in Ministry indicated significant change in variables. Moreover, the preaching moment met the needs of the multicultural church by creating an environment for guidance, assurance, and sustaining collective acceptance among the congregants.
