The thirteen lessons use visuals to highlight key issues and personalities. Designed to be used with 'Eerdman's Handbook to Christianity in America', this course begins with colonial puritanism, religious diversity, the Great Awakening, and the church in the Revolution. It explores antebellum evangelical expansion in the South and the North, plus divergent religious movements. It features the post-Civil War protestant mainstream, then the Social Gospel and fundamentalism. This thesis considers the theological assumptions of urban ministry, a brief history of the Baptists in New England, and history of Tremont Temple's ministry of pastoral care. Projections by Boston Redevelopment Authority are used to project a ministry of pastoral care in the year 2000 AD. Essentially, the study attempts to come to grips with the changing nature of urban ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133524085964800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:20:39.175Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:03:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:55:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"32bfc659-bc32-4f08-9022-1b9d63adf7b3","accessControl_ssim":["51e3094c-30a8-40c6-ac84-7425ea3b2a2a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Evaluating mass evangelism: a case study of the 1982 Billy Graham crusade in Boston, Massachusetts"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:03:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:36:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["22041841-0575-4564-a152-53ab607438d1"],"hasLease_ssim":["d2419d71-1f6d-4f20-ad89-cc5622e484a5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Norman E Thomas"],"year_tesim":["1983"],"location_tesim":["United States","Massachusetts--Boston"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Roger A Kvam"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Revivals","Evangelicalism","Church history","Graham, Billy, 1918-2018"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study of modern mass evangelism analyzes the New England Billy Graham crusade of 1982. An initial chapter examines the historical and cultural context of Boston and New England. The invitation process and the complex organization of the crusade is detailed. The effect of the crusade is measured by close analysis of questionnaires returned from ministers and lay leaders of churches who participated. Returned questionnaires from inquirers reveal the motivations for attending and responding to the evangelist's invitation. A final chapter summarizes the crusade and seeks to assess whether the effort and cost involved was effective and worthwhile."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715974165823488,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:55:01.388Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:02:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:32:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7d0b4dd0-a738-4709-b9c2-7fcea68ec80e","accessControl_ssim":["57beb4a7-32ef-4242-bf63-fa4c99261b2b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Enabling peer leadership in youth ministry: a retreat model"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:02:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:49:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["45f6291a-672a-4370-a02b-fead3f86d01e"],"hasLease_ssim":["9d8715ff-603f-4374-811e-b75e0d579676"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["James W Fraser"],"year_tesim":["1983"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas J Bright"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Church work","Catholic Church","Clergy--Training of","Catholic Church--Youth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["As youth ministry has begun to take hold and bear fruit in the Catholic Church of the United States in the years following the Second Vatican Council, the need to involve young people themselves in ministry has become increasingly evident.
